I would love a smoke free Starke County!
I would like to know why the city has a Police car on Main Street and all he does is watch as the cars speed by the schools at 35 to 40 mph when the children are getting out & he just watches. The cars stop in the middle of the street to pick up children or friends and nothing happens
How is it the speed limit by the high school is 10mph and the kids get tickets for speeding but the bus drivers zip by at 20 or 30 mph and nothing happens> Is this sort of a 2 way deal ?
What 6 more paid holidays? I thought the county was struggling financially.
What is happening with the Sysco plant? Is the project kaput?
I believe the city of Knox has an ordnance requiring all road vehicles to have a current yearly plate. After a ticket has been issued the property may be sold and monies go into city coffee fund as stated by the law. Over $350. is a littledifferent as also stated by law..
Smoking is our CHOICE. I fully respect non smokers and do not smoke around them. Us smokers just want to be left alone. Don't worry we will stay away from you. We will not blow smoke in your faces. We just want to be left alone to do what we CHOOSE. I don't drink so should Starke County be alcohol free? If you drink, that's your CHOICE but it kills too. I can smoke and drive or work. Do everything. Can you drink and work or drive??? There is as much drinking in public as smoking.
i drive down toto road every day, friday morning water was standing in the normal places. not the great paving job as reported. this rain was a normal rain not a flood.
smoking or non-smoking, i read posts for both sides, this is good.

I don't care if people choose to smoke, if you don't do it in a public place around others who do not wish to breath in your second hand smoke. A smoke free Starke County would not take away your right to choose to smoke, just limit you from doing it in public places. There are laws to prevent people from drinking and driving because it is dangerous to others. Breathing second hand smoke is also dangerous to others, so why not have a law to protect others from it?
Why does Harold do a North Judson game when Knox is playing at home?
The Sports Department tries to balance out the coverage of all 9 area schools we cover, taking into consideration things such as what teams have been coverered most recently, what games are most likely to the "best of the best" and which teams might be covered the following week. In the case of this weekend, WKVI Sportsline Live had covered the Knox Redskins in their last 2 victories over New prairie and John Glen but hadn't broadcast a North Judson game since October 2nd. Unfortunately. the North Judson at Wheeler game wasn't the "best of the best for this week as it appeared it might be, but you can't predict those things in advance.

The reason we have this jail problem is because the old comisioners were to scared to even talk about a new jail. Even little Pulaski county built one and now their making money off it. At least the judge has the guts to do something about it.
The reason we have a jail problem in Starke County is crime. We seem to have more than our share. What can be done to reduce it?
I would like to congratulate the new recruits and let you know that you are getting the number one recruit in your county. Each one of the recruits went through a 16 weeks of tough training to protect and serve each county they will live and serve in. Way to go MEN!!!!!!

Very few restaurants, but ALL bars are the only places smoking is permitted. In restaurants that allow it, there is smoking and non smoking. We smoke outside!! So what's the complaint?? Where else are smokers bothering non smokers?
The only problem I have with smokers is that it's been a proven fact that second hand smoke can be damaging to your health, while someone with alcohol on their breath isn't going to do much to you. However, on the flip side, most people don't get in accidents and kill people when they smoke, but how many drunk drivers are there? AND, I would just like to point out one more thing. Please...PLEASE...IF YOU CAN NOT MULTITASK, DON'T DRIVE AND TALK ON YOUR CELL PHONE! That has to be the MOST annoying trait out there right now and I was in the car with my daughter and she started to text someone and all of a sudden was on the wrong side of the road. Thankfully, no one was coming, but that's the last time that will happen. Parents, most cell phones now come with what is considered a sort of GPS for your cell phone and you can tell where your kid is if they have their cell phone on and if they are on the move. Call your provider and get this service. It will deter something that could be catastrophic.
