This is a great website! I was wondering if there is a place on the WKVI site that has WKVI's phone number? I thought it would be nice to have that so people could call in birthdays, anniversary's etc.

Anonymous said...

With times being as tough on the citizens of your listening area, you should add a spot where we could add a name to the birthday list online...some of us don't have phones.

Love the all-decade team. What a great idea and as a sports fan of the area, it's nice to see some names that I haven't heard in a while and remember some of the great times in high school basketball. We have some certain talent around here. However, what has happened to the news? We decided to cancel our newspaper and now this has turned into the same thing. Only 5 stories and their quality is almost unbearable to read. As a former English teacher, please work with your news writing department. Thank you.

Our child support system in Knox Indiana (that's Starke County, but it should be STARVE county) totally sucks!!!!!! Check this out. My ex-husband in $35,000 in arrears on child support. Recently he paid $1000 towards that $35,000 but our county courthouse mailed that payment to the wrong address. So that means no money for me, as the checks are now lost. So not only was I advised by this office that I will have to wait 30 days before a new check can be issued, but they actually gave me the option of paying $35 dollars per check (the payment was mailed out in two separate checks), for them to stop payment on the first set of checks. THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE AND FOR MY OWN MONEY!!!!!!!!!! How did this happen? Someone changed my mailing address on their paperwork without my permission or knowledge. I AM FURIOUS!!!!!!!

THANK YOU WKVI!! Your page of closing & cancellations is GREAT. School, business and work closing. We could not ask for anything better. Also your two new guys are doing a really good job. And last, in regard to adding birthdays & anniversaries. It would be nice to have them listed here.

(this is all in fun)(but feel free to correct my hillbilly grammar as happens way too much here)

I am not complaining about the roads, this is just a fun idea. Larry the Plow Guy keeps my driveway cleaner than the road in front of my house. So give the private snow plow drivers some kind of tax credit, a gas credit or a thank you, if on the country roads they drop their plows while traveling to next driveway. Thanks and have a happy 2010.

I am so disgusted with the Knox School System & their lack of wisdom in calling school delays. Knox likes to wait til the very last second, 7:59 to decide, when at least Judson & OD have at least the wisdom to see necessary a 2 hr delay the night before, which in turn make it more convenient for the parents to make plans & line up childcare.

So much for unbiased news reporting. Democrat Ted Hayes wants the government to rein in the "traders"...when the question should be who's going to rein in the GOVERNMENT? HOw about telling Congressman Donnelly to get the government OUT of the gas business, since the government is more responsible than anyone else for our dependence on foreign oil! It was the GOVERNMENT that created the Dept. of Energy that was supposed to do that back in 1977 (remember Jimmy Carter?) That was 34 YEARS AGO? They've taken billions of taxpayer dollars for the Dept. of Energy...how does Congressman Donnelly feel that's worked out, Ted?

Anonymous said...

What a great idea! Give the private sector the job of clearing roads! The Government guys seem to not be willing to work more than their allotted hours...bet the private guys could do it quicker, better and cheaper!

I have a hard time believing that the speculators are all behind the gas price hike. I have noticed very recently that gas prices were $2.76 in Winamac on the same day they were $2.69 in Culver, and both stations are owned by Good Oil. Speculators don't control the difference between small towns. Someone is trying to make us believe the gas co. owners aren't responsible and aren't making any money. Hard to beleive! Anonymous

Anonymous said...

Hey, tell our Socialist/Marxist Congressman Donnelly to get the heck out of our lives and our pocketbooks! Drill, Baby! DRILL!

Anonymous said...

Yeah, we can expect a lot of help from congressman Donnly alright...with the government track record...let's see..
Post office started 1775 - it's broke!
social security - 1935 - broke
Fannie Mae - 1938 - broke
Medicare & medicade - 1965 -broke
Fredie Mac - 1970 - broke
Dept of Energy - 1977 - 24 billion $ a year and more foreign oil than ever...yeah, congressman, we need more government programs...it's private companies that are taking our tax dollars and using them so bad, right?

Anonymous said...

I think the comments on gas going higher is absolute B.S. They comment that we have an abundance of gas, and a barrel of oil is lower than ever, but we as the consumer are getting taken for a ride. Isn't it something how the gas companies are still making record profits, but the economy is in the toilet. So lets make it worse. Someone needs to step in and put a stop to this. There is never a reason or explanation why gas goes down by pennies then i a few days up by dimes and quarters. When you step into other states their gas prices never change as much as ours. Go out west and gas is cheaper and steady. And we live close to a refinery????

Anonymous said...

If the county wants to keep business local, then they need to be more competitive and clean our local grocery store. They complain about people going to walmart but your grocery bill is half and gas is always cheaper in Plymouth. Why stay in Knox?

Anonymous said...

I have to agree with anonymous, I worked for a gas station that was delivered and owned/part owned by Don Good. The stations between Knox, Winamac, and North Judson were all different prices. Why was this? Was someone making up the difference between the stations. The areas are only 10 miles apart. I have to believe it went in someones pockets and not the consumers.

Anonymous said...

Gee...somebody makes money when we buy gas? How awfu1! And somebody makes money when I buy groceries, too? How unfair! And, somebody makes money when I go to the movies? I think the government needs to take over the oil, grocery and movie businesses and give me all of that for free! It's my right as an American! I think anyone who makes more money than I do should share it with me, too! From each according to his abilities...to each according to his needs...Karl Marx and Rep. Donnelly are right! and, I'm NEEDY!

Anonymous said...

Why is it we are supposed to be one of the poorest counties in the State of Indiana but prices are higher here. I think we should have a new revolution in this country and give controll back to the PEOPLE where it belongs. Remmember CONGESS is up for RELECTION this coming November. If you are a life long Democrate think of changing parties.

Lets talk about our roads at least when danford was in our county roads stayed passable. Now the drivers have to drive all the way to knox pick up the truck then start plowing not to mention they start at 6:00 am some of them have to drive quite a ways before being able to start plowing .School bus drivers already on roads trying to pick up kids on almost impossible circumastances then 3:00 pm comes around there done regardless of whats done for the day. How about peoples saftey does that not count. We now have someone in office more worried about trying to make himself look professional and not really worrying about the people of this community cant wait for elections......

Does anyone remeber when kuwait was taken over by Iraq we went in and got there country back for them and put out the oil well fires. Then after that kuwait got with opec and decided to cut oil production to raise the price.TERRORISTS ARE WINNING THERE BATTLE AND IT'S HAPPENING RIGHT HERE AT HOME.High gas prices means people have to make a decision do i pay house payment or put gas in car to go to work.Banks didnt screw up loaning people money. They where making there payments fine till gas shot out of control. so all these foreign countries have to do is jack up oil prices and kill our economy and the world economy. no suicide bombers or dieing on there part and they accomplish what they wanted complete world failure. wake up america and all our blind politicians that have government fuel cards

Please DO NOT post Birthdays and anniversaries here on website. Bad idea. Unlike a radio station signal which is limited, Websites can be viewed in Russia, Rumania, Nigeria and there are whole organized groups gleaning such for ID Theft and other targeted scams. I feel very strongly about info freely available at Court houses as well. That information should not be 'online' either because of the detailed information available to more than just the local resident with a need to know and who can walk in and get it. Don't help the criminal gather your information.

Anonymous said...

Everyone must have forgotten that the county highway is broke. They can't pay the guys to work more than the hours they do. Plus the reason they don't take there trucks home is to save on fuel. If you want to get mad at someone get mad at the people that were in charge before. Be mad at the people who were arrested and voted to let those people have pay while waiting. Those are the ones that you have to look at.

Anonymous said...

Everyone should be accountable for the town going broke. Like earlier comments I seen that gas is cheaper in Plymouth and higher in knox yes, maybe, what by 4 cents really, thats ridiculous then people will drive 15 miles to get 4 cents cheaper on a gallon of gas and drive 15 miles more to save 20 cents on a gallon of milk. The money should stay in our community to better our community but no one has obviously figured that out yet so the businesses here in town are starving and closing down cause the consumer wants to save a dime. Thats less money for our county and more money for Marshall county and thats why they can go cheaper on their prices if you see what I mean...I am a business owner in this county and this year has been terrible financially. I have not raised my prices one cent yet people will still go out of town to get a so called deal but always remember that you get what you pay for at least most of the time and US as a community need to stick together and dig our own selves out of this hole and quit waiting on the politicions to do something about it because you will be waiting a very long time. And remember that these small businesses in town are trying to make money too and Im sure they can make their prices go down if they had enough consumers buying. AND just think of all the time you save from driving to plymouth and back alone can be spent with your family or doing something you like to do ...well worth a few cents...

This ia a very nice addition to your website. Wow a very large range of topics too. I moved from Knox over a year ago, but here is what I know, I worked at a local gas station during the eighties, prices were set and all stations followed them (by Zingo).
Your local and county government needs an overhaul. You folks keep putting the same folks in office that run everything in town . Why? It isn't going to change till you change it. Yes prices are cheaper in Marshall county, Is it really worth the drive after you buy lunch, get your groceries, buy those one or two impulse purchases that wal-mart is counting on? Did you really save money? I know Five-Star is high priced. Go to sav-a- lot. The child support system has it problems, you can suggest that you ex sends his payments down state they have a website for the info. How do I know? I pay it also every month . Again we keep putting the same folks in control here . Have a great day folks, if you really and truly want change get involved. Typing complaints isnt going to get you anywhere. Its a nice release of your anger, but put that anger to work and get out in the community and do some good.

These facts show QUALITY of the instructors not quanity.

I almost agree with the comment about the impovement of the music. But I can't take the girl bands. If I hear Madonna, Brittany, or similar types, I'm switching to a CD. Example from yesterday: Coldplay * Rolling Stones * John Mayer * Christina Aguilera. Which one doesn't fit?

I heard a portion of the interview you had with Don Good on Friday morning. From this it seems to me that you are only inviting whining as comments to go to Mr. Joe Donnelly.

That is the same stance Mr. Donnelly took two (2) years ago when fuel prices went sky high and assisted in a great part to the destruction of our economy All he and others could do with him was whine about different groups running up the price of fuel. The policies that were pursued at that time were to increase taxes on the production of domestic oil and gas and put more people on welfare. Those drilling for domestic sources of petroleum were punished for trying to make money for themselves and provide taxable income for employees, plus tax revenue for all levels of government. I talked to Mr. Donnelly regarding this at the Mint Festival Parade in June 2009. His answers to my questions were about a bill he said they (Congress) passed a couple of years ago, but was actually non-existent. I have written and sent emails on other subjects but he either will not answer or the answer may talk about the general subject matter, but the answer never gets to the question that was asked.

Quit whining and get proactive! Tell Mr. Donnelly to quit holding down energy exploration in the United States and allow some new refineries to be built. Let people of this nation invest in our domestic energy production and that will happen rather quickly, if given the opportunity. The policies pursued by Mr. Donnelly only support energy production from the Middle East, from people that do no really like us.

If given an opportunity the oil and gas drilling industry of this nation can provide domestic jobs that produce income for American citizens. This in turn then generates tax revenues for the nation, states, and local operations plus making us less dependent on foreign sources of energy.

As the song says, "There's a five dollar fine for whinning!"

I think Starke County is nothing but a hole in the wall, gas is too high, child support office is lazy, and don't even get me started on the elective officials around here. The school system is a joke and the county high way department sucks sucks sucks.I hate this town if I had the means to get out of here I would.

Anonymous said...

I want to say that Starke County is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. To The person that hates Starke County....
You make it what it is!!! I'm sure you would hate anywhere you would go.

Anonymous said...

I have lived in Starke County for many years; I've raised my children here; they've attended the schools here; and one of them is now a doctor. Don't tell me that this county "is nothing but a hole in the wall!" A community is what YOU make it! If you don't like it....move!

Anonymous said...

I wonder why people from northwest Indiana have been moving to Starke County in droves? Could it be the low crime rate, the absence of traffic jams, the safety within our school systems? Most of the complainers are the "do nothings" that have their hands out and sometimes don't get what they want. If you don't like the elected officials or schools, then why don't you run for elected office or school board? Maybe you could do better. I am sure that nobody would complain about you if you were in charge of collecting child support or running our schools. But, we know that you won't. Because all you like to do is complain. If you would like to leave, but can't afford it, I will buy you a one way bus ticket to Hammond. That way you will be sitting up high as you watch all the U-Hauls traveling southeast to come to our "hole in the wall." We like it just fine just the way it is, and apparently so do a lot of newcomers.

Your story on the missionary family was great, I personally know part of them, and I know them to be sincere caring people with a God inspired mission to help the people of Haiti.

One of my older friends tried very hard to share a safety tip that has kept her from falling on the ice and breaking an arm or leg. When she tried to explain to one of your employees the woman made fun it. It may sound foolish but one should try something before making fun of it. She gets knee hi nylons and puts them over her shoes so she can walk safely outside. They aren't expensive and they do work if pulled tight. On television they showed ladies filling part of nylons with salt and throwing it upon the roofs to safely melt the tops of gutters, it successfully help to melt the ice without climbing up and maybe falling off and getting hurt. She wanted to share what she knew to a inexpensive helpful hint, but somebody spoke without thinking.
Anybody can fall and injury themselves, and they might prevent that for about 33 cents or less. She is a senior citizen who was not trying to be as smart mouth, so I promised her I would post this for her and maybe save other older person on a limited budget.

Comments on WKVI news coverage of Financial Partners this morning 1/21/10. "UNBELIEVABLE" I agee with Charley. Starke County officials moved $2m out of the county and out of the state, all the way to New York City, I wont even eat salsa from New York City.

Charley those short sighted officials will soon be coming to your office to ask for a donation for some political campaign. Tell them they have done a good job in their pollitical office and have preformed well, but its time to move on.

Last election Starke County voted for "Change". I think its time for "Change" locally now too. Stop the muscial chairs.

Mr. Arnett: If a local firm did such a good job handling the police pension fund in the hard times, why is it "time to move on"...to a New York City firm that had to be bailed out by the government? please explain this to us taxpayers

Anonymous said...

If I were a Starke County police officer I'd be very nervous about my pension moving to Morgan Stanley that had to be bailed out by the federal government and would've probably gone under if they hadn't been bailed out and what about those already receiving pension benefits??????????

Anonymous said...

If I liked tea it would be time for tea party, I say move the funds back locally. I didnt know about the bail-out, that makes it worse. If there is a problem or a question, just go knock on Financial Partners Door, cant go to NYC. Can we have all the peoples names that decided this move. And can we hear from any officer. What is your opinion? It's your money.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe the County Police officers would put up with their pension money being moved to a company that had to be bailed out by the government! Good Luck in retirement...if you ever get it...so much for promoting local businesses

Anonymous said...

Why were funds transfered?

Money more secure?

More profit?

Less fees?

Gifts, Kick-backs?

I would like to hear the reason.

I heard today that if the OD girls do good in payoffs it will draw attention away from the money matters, I think he might be right. GO BOBCATS!!!

What money problems?
Oh no its working.

About the police pension fund being moved:

According to the story it performed well, one of the best in the state.

The only reason that was given for moving it to NYC was "Its time to move on."

The guy was talking but not saying anything. Why is it time to move on?

There should have been more follow up questions in the interview.

Who is Mr Arnett, did he run for an office? was he elected? if he was appointed, then by who.

WKVI get Mr Arnett back on the air and ask them to explain himself, if he wont, Get Oscar Cowen on the air.

Was some of this money MY TAX money? if so please transfer it back locally.

I dont know anyone in New York City. But I have known Herald Welter most of my life and known Charlie atleast 20yr, and Devin Wallen all of his life. Finacial Partners donates locally.

WKVI please get us the info we need to get the people in office this year who think local first.

Anonymous said...

You shouldn't be surprised that WKVI didn't announce anything about the Knox wrestlers. Harold Welter only cares about basketball coaches. If he truly cared about the athletes he wouldn't, as a Knox school board member, laugh when Coach Boldry puts down his own players. Maybe if he were in the locker room where the coach, and I use that term loosely, was calling the players retarded and telling them that they belong in special ed classes; he wouldn't laugh and think he were so comical. Is it any wonder we only have a handful of kids playing basketball?

As President of the Starke County Merit Board,I feel compelled to answer all the negative and misinformed comments concerning the retirement fund.Allegation: 2 million dollars moved out of Starke County. Fact: Money was not in Starke County but under control of Sigma Financial located in Ann Arbor Mi. Charley is well aware of this fact since Financial Partners made the transaction.I did say Financial Partners had done a good job. Key word being had. For information of those uninformed the fund underperformed the market in 2008 by approx. five percent. In today's environment good is not sufficient anymore. For those concerned about the officers covered under the plan, please be advised that it was at their request the Merit Board made change. The Merit Officers voted unanimously for the change. Does that give you a hint they were not happy with services being provided? Finally the comments about Morgan Stanley taking bailout money is ludicrous. You do not understand the dynamics of that situation, so you should refrain from commenting on that of which you have no knowledge.

WKVI Sportscasters, Nathan and Harold Welter, were the first to break the news about the Knox Wrestlers winning at the Northern State Conference. They did so on Saturday night, shortly after the young men returned home, long before it was published in the South Bend Tribune. In addition, Danny Bradley was recognized as the "Tyler Roth/WKVI Athlete of the Week" (check this out on WKVI.com "Sportsline Online") for his efforts on the mat this year. In addition, you'll want to listen to Nathans Thursday night "Sports Talk" show each week where he goes in depth about the accomplishments of our local athletes.

We make an effort to cover as many sports and athletes as possible, but we aren't always made aware of the success of our athletes by the schools, so we urge our listeners to notify us with any sports-related news of which we should be aware. Why is it that the traffic laws in Starke County not inforced? On a daily basis I see posted limits being ignored, stop signs ran, left turns from right hand lanes, and left turns from right lanes. Buses not stopping at rail road crossings, I could go on and on, but you get the jest. Seems to me if officers spent more time on the road and out of resturants our roads would be safer

first Mr. Arnett used the excuse of moving the police pension money out of a local firm because it was "time to move on". Now he says it's because of underperformance. Which was it?
As a retired police officer from southern Indiana, I also question whether Mr. Arnett knows that these decision are entirely the responsibility of the Merit Board, not the officers...allowing the officers to make that decision flies in the face of the law designed to make sure the officers do NOT make those decisions, but they are to be made by the merit board. does Mr. arnett know what the role of the board that he controls is?

Look I don't know about all of the school's in the county but OD needs to pay better attention to their teacher's licenses. Right now they have an Algebra teacher at the high school level that doesn't have a license to teach high school level courses. He had an emergency permit to teach high school level courses, but it expired 06/30/08. It is on the DOE website under educator license lookup, he is still teaching even though I personally brought this to the attention of the Administration and the School Board. Dr. (and I use this lightly) Disney told me to find him a math teacher, and that the school would pay the fine and keep this teacher on in the classroom without the proper permit attached to his license. I don't know about you but as a parent of kids in the school system this makes me angry. It is highly unethical to knowingly allow a teacher to teach without the proper permit. This teahcer does have an Elementary Ed. license for 1-8 grades, but has taught high school level courses since 06/08 without the emergency permit he needs.

Why is everyone so concerned about money issues, keeping busines local, where our tax dollars are going? Pres. Obama has everything under control. He told us last night he's lowered taxes, created new jobs, will provide government run health-care, will spread the wealth of the greedy corporations, told the Supreme Court they don't know what they're doing! Stop worrying...your President...our government will take care of everything. That's what this country voted for!

What is so confusing to everybody?
Obama is delivering on the liberal agenda that we knew he would push. More taxes on the middle class, more nanny government involvement in our lives,(now even your health), more gay rights (now in the military), a weaker national defense, miranda rights for terrorists, no rights for the unborn, more taxes on the small businessman, more government spending, bigger deficits, (deficits so big we may never be able to dig ourselves out), limp wrist foreign policy, bitter partisanship against his opponents. Why are you all acting surprised now? What part didn't you think you were going to get when we elected a proud liberal with the gift of gab?

You forgot to mention 2 wars are still raging at billions every month, our soldiers dying, moving terrorists who want to kill all of us to honor Allah to a prison in Illinois, Bin Laden still thumbing his nose at us, runaway unemployment, the appointment of radical czars to government posts, the appointment to the Sup. court of a radical judicial activist, the appointment of an attorney general who got a pardon for scumbag Marc Rich who owes our country millions, and calling the police "stupid" in Massachusettes without knowing what he was talking about. Looking forward to 3 more years of the same.

Has anybody gone onto the Starke County Government website and looked under the Commissioner minutes and read the minutes from all of the various meetings? I did. In January 2010 meeting, they called out Randy Abbey (Starke County EMS/EMA Director) as being generally uncooperative, uncommunicative and is doing nothing to make things better and they are not happy with his job performance. If they are not happy with his job performance, then why is he still the director? Doesn't seem right to me. The commissioners are trying to get the emergency medical care in the county upgraded and I don't see how they will be able to accomplish this if Mr. Abbey is at the helm. I looked up Starke county EMS on the state website and found out that our ambulance service is a "Basic" service. Which means they can give you a band aid and drive fast to the hospital. I think we should get these commissioners to get rid of Randy and get someone in there who will bring the service in a new direction. Just my .02 cents.

I really think as well as being concerned for the national government intervening in our lives maybe we should take the time to focus on the local side of things too.
We have to register our animals and can only have so many of them no matter how we take care of them. Having to pay a hydrant fee? in North Judson soon. Come on really???? You have to get permits to blow your nose. You cant drill a well in town because even though you own the property it isnt your water under it. Where is the greater good there? I am sure there are many more laws that take away little bits of our freedom at a time. If you know of one post it and lets see how may BITS OF OUR FREEDOM are missing!!!

To YOU

I first want to say that I believe in our style of government. If it’s used the way it should be it’s by far the best in the world. However, after saying that and learning what I have in the past year I have to say it isn’t doing so well. Don’t get the wrong idea; I am not saying that the Democrats or Republicans are messing it up. I’m saying the fact that there “ARE” Democrats and Republicans (or any other political party for that matter) is messing it up. I see how competitive we Americans are. This competitive spirit can blind us to common sense as long as we can gain some small victory, or cause trouble for our opponent by ignoring it.
My guess is it all starts with the vote. How can an educated person honestly vote straight ticket? How can they honestly say that every fellow party member is better than every other person running for any office? I believe I can be a naïve person I admit that, however, even I am not that naïve! Why do we have to have that separation, that division into competitive teams? How did we get here? Why do we continue with the status quo?
An elected official is in office for us because we supposedly thought they were going to work for us. If they took this responsibility seriously I would think they would do research on anything they plan on voting on or speaking publicly about. So assuming that our elected officials are doing the research how is there so much confusion in the American people about the health care bill? Either one party is pulling wool over our eyes or the other is trying to use misinformation to confuse us. Which is happening? I’m not sure, I am too busy working and trying to raise my family to really do all the research that someone else was elected to do!
I am very frustrated with my government right now. I wonder if the people elected into office really have the voters’ interests in mind. I learned that listening and finding out what was really going on before opening my mouth was common sense. I would hope that these elected officials would know the same. It seems it all comes back to playing for your team. Competition between to parties no matter what affect the end result has on us the American public.
I love my country and believe we have the best potential for greatness in the world. Our elected officials have to have respect for each other and stop slinging mud. They need to work together instead of trying to make the other look bad. I would hope they will make educated decisions instead of party based decisions. Decisions based hopefully on the truthful beliefs that got them elected. There is too much wasted time and energy on the competition instead of on the issues that need it!
I’m not the type of person to run for office. I know I probably couldn’t handle the pressure involved in making the type of decisions our elected officials have to make daily. There are however, people who can handle the pressures. This is where we as the American public have to hold our elected officials accountable. We need to do our research once every election year. It isn’t too much to ask that we take on that responsibility. We need to be electing people who want to work together to help keep the American public healthy, employed, and the opportunity to keep a decent standard of living! These people may already be in office, maybe they aren’t. Each voter has to make that decision. Please, STOP THE PARTY POLITICS!!! It is bad enough we have the Lobbyists and special interest groups making “campaign donations” to influence our elected officials (Don’t even try to say it doesn’t happen!). Let’s demand our elected officials stop party politics. We will never get rid of the competition it is a part of what makes us great. We can demand that good sportsmanship and respect for everyone is used. If it isn’t? Well, then it should be time for a change of face don’t you think?

Mr. Arnett states that the officers have every right to voice their opinion but earlier he said they "voted unanimously" to move the money out of Starke county...he should make up his mind...did they "voice their opinion" or did they "vote"...if they "voted"...that's illegal...how can someone who doesn't know the role of the Merit Board be it's president? and, why doesn't Mr. Arnett say whether it the change was made because it was time to move on...or because of poor performance by the local company?

I want to know why all the changes at WKV?. So-called K99.3 of the valley.

Why are you changing the News from the half hour to the hour? People use the programming as a time clock. Whether it is 5:30 or 6:30 or 7:30 in the morning they know how to plan their time to get ready for work.

Leave the News on the half hour. and put Charlie back giving the news. Ted sleep in in the morning.

No wonder the young people don't listen to K99.3....

I would suggest that comments should give the person,s name like in the letter,s to the editor in newspaper. It would eliminate a lot of rather dumb comments.
The music is a little better, but still sounds a lot like a group of people trapped in a kitchen utensil shop, trying to escape.
Thank you, Jim V

i think its time for the county to bring up changing the time zone or making the county smoke free.

that way the public will be split on that, and they can increase fees and taxes, transfer more funds out of town, change the political chairs, and all from behind the smoke screen of time change or smoke free.

Dear WKVI

Can you add back a 5:30am news just for me.

Thanks

I'm a young person and lots of us listen to WKVI now, specifically because of the music. Its 100% better than the country mix which we never listened to.
Rock on K99.3! You're sounding better than you ever have before!

I, also, am very unhappy about moving the news to the top of the hour. You were differnt. Every other radio station and TV station have news on the hour. Some changes are good, but not this one. Please leave it alone!

Now that the bill to drive golf carts around the lake is going to pass I guess it is OK to drive your riding lawn mowers,
atvs and Go-Carts too.

At no time did I say officers voted to move money from Starke County. I believe a remedial reading course may improve your comprehension of the written word.I find it hilarious that one who does not understand the written word would question my knowledge of the Merit Board!!!! Please attend Merit Board meeting on Feb.9 at 6:30 and I will teach you not only the purpose of Merit Board but it's functions as well. Then we will both be knowledge of said Board

Something needs to be done about the people who continually pull out into traffic onto highway 10 from Range Road (by Bailey's Discount).People have no hesitation in pulling out in front of cars traveling a steady 55mph or more and then creep along the road ..... many of them roll through the stop while they are at it! This area is an 'accident waiting to happen'. Why do our police not make themselves seen here to get some control over this problem?

Anonymous said...

Mr. Arnett, just to make sure I didn't misquote you I cut and pasted the following statement that was given over your name on the discussion board: The Merit Officers voted unanimously for the change.
That says to me that you allowed the officers to vote on moving the money out of Starke County, which, of course, is not allowed by State statute.
While you say some taxpayers (whose money you moved out of the County) need a remedial reading course, I submit that you may need a remedial writing course, since I also cut and pasted this statement from your last post: Then we will both be knowledge of said Board

Amazing how someone with that kind of writing skill controls millions of dollars of taxpayer money. You've now demonstrated on the radio your inability to speak the English language properly, now you've demonstrated your inability to write the language, as well!

Typical Democrat Jack Lynch, attacking Congressman Buyer on something Jack knows nothing about (the Foundation established by Mr. Buyer)except what he read in a newspaper, while the Congressman's wife is struck with a fatal disease...thanks for the Christian compassion, Jack! I'm sure you have the same concerns about Democrat Secretary of the Treasury Geithner not paying his taxes and Democrat Congressman Charles Rangel forgetting that he had that million dollar property in the Caribbean on which he paid no taxes...and, I'm sure you were also concerned about Mary Jo Kopechne back in '69, right, Jack?

have to admit you got me on not using proper English. Should have proof read response. However I find no comment by myself, stating the Merit Officers voted to move any funds out of Starke County. A member of the Merit Board requested that since he was appointed by the Merit Officers,he wanted to ask them if they wanted to change retirement plan administrators. They voted for change as stated. Now I know if you take your time and read slowly, you may understand the written word.
Finally I would say I have neither the time or inclination,to debate this issue with anyone who is chooses not to sign their name.

Reply to anonymos of Feb 3rd. Thanks for putting me in a group cause at least the party has accomplished something in starke County. I do not know about the foundation or Mr. Buyer was married but nice to know that you recognize him or somebody to be a Christian to have a foundation to pay for your golfing from donations.

It really does mean alot to have the county news right at your fingertips on the WKVI website. Maybe WKVI can get in the habit to mention in bad weather how important your vehicle headlights are when it is foggy, raining or snowing out.Its hard to see the light colored vehicles coming right at you sometimes when the weather is bad. Oh, yes parking lights, just aren't enough.
Thank you
