Doesn't WKVI broadcast local high school sports news and scores during the morning news any longer??

Congratulations to Jimmy Krause, Dalton Martin, Jake Rietow, and Joe Rietow. They are the newest members of the Indiana Football Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.

Anybody know whats goin on in that little building on 35 north of knox? I have seen people in and out of there, but not sure what sthere. Anybody have any idea?

Anonymous said...

Why do people choose to say Pulaski County With the "I" sound instead of the "E" sound. It has been proven that it is the "E" sound that is supposed to be used?

That would be like pronouncing the "E" sound at the end of Starke county it doesnt make sense!

Even WKVI mispronounces it. Why?
Isnt that promoting the error rather than fixing it?

Anonymous said...

that waybe going to be cisco's construction office

Anonymous said...

pulaski is a french word

Anonymous said...

Pulaski is a french word. Okay, what does that mean as far as my first comment. I dont understand why the mispronounciation is acceptable?

Anonymous said...

(pulaski) well, i dont know. lets blame the repulicans. glad i live in NOX.

Anonymous said...

That building is Swirls a candy shop. It was in the Leader last week. WKVI should know about it.

Anonymous said...

I just happen to know that, that little building at 250n and 35 is called SWIRLS CHOCOLATE SHOP. She has luscious chocolates and covered apples , candies and pretzels. You should go there and try some.

We all hope Lenny gets better. How ironic that he pulled his groin lifting that fish over his head for the picture while bragging about catching Mr. Big Daddy. I was thinking that this story was a little fishy when you reported that Bud Dickle is from Manchester, Tenn.
All real bass fishermen know that the Bass Master is from Fayetteville.

Anonymous said...

I agree that Lenny needs medical coverage paid personally by the WKVI management,he could have seriously been hurt reading it. I guess it was a slow news day on April 1.

Anonymous said...

Actually Pulaski, was/is a polish name, not french
Pu·las·ki (p-lsk, p-), Casimir or Kazimierz 1747-1779.
Polish patriot and general who aided American forces in the Revolutionary War, commanding the defense of Charleston (1779) and leading a cavalry brigade in the siege of Savannah

I have been listening to WKVI now for years and I gotta tell you that I finally became a fan. Really enjoy the changes and loving the music. Your website is also a quick way to learn whats going on. The discussion board, lets just say that gets interesting. I have one suggestion. Many, many of your listeners would love to hear Anita on the air more than just the news. She really does have many fans that would like to listen to her. Your morning man Tom, is not only informative but very entertaining. We get up early just to listen to him each morning. Thanks so much for being such a large part of this community. Buy the way will WKVI ever be posting pics of Jerry and Lenny on your home page?

Since Nancy Dembowski got the speed limit on 10 around Bass Lake along with the right to drive golf carts. Why don't people have to put plates on them. It would help with revenue and see that they have insurance on them

I hear that the Secretary of State and I.S.P. are going to be looking closely at the Starke County election this year because of the embarasing problems with the absentees las time.

Anonymous said...

I am curious as to how many phone lines WKVI has in the studio? Every time I try to call in to play in a contest the lines are always busy. Doesn't matter if you call before, during, or after they tell you to call in. Just wondering how anyone can get through?

Anonymous said...

The community lost a good neighbor. We will miss you, Gene.

Last night was the Farm Bureau meeting at Knox High School they had several candidates as guests for the election. it was good to hear their reasons for running for the different offices on May 4th. Changed my mind on some of them and what they stood for. Wish them luck in the primary.

Anonymous said...

What happened at Wkvi. We came down to open up the Bass Lake house for the summer and you guys sound great. Nice job!

Anonymous said...

i CAN'T BELIEVE THERE ISN'T ANY NEWS ON WKVI ON SATURDAYS.

Anonymous said...

I would like to know if wkvi ever thought of taking a poll or some sort of way to find out if everyones insurance car and homeowners has went up, mine did.

I can hardly wait to see if any of the media puts out the word to buy in the county you live in this year. It usually comes out around christmas time and I have heard no one comment on it. I used to be a stickler for that idea, then a couple of years ago I went to other counties and still do to do my shopping. Everything in this county is rediculously high especially the taxes. They tax you now at fair market value they call it. I had a house for sale for over 2 years at 20% less than what they said it was worth. I sold the house for 60% of what they call fair market value, Do I get a tax refund, LOL

Does everyone out ther know that you do not have to obtain a building permit to build on your own property? Thats exactly right. You do not have to obtain one. Call your congressperson and ask them.

Hamlet, Indiana must be a great place to live you never hear anything about it on the news, I wonder why?

Anonymous said...

Maybe cause nothing exciting happens in Hamlet, Indiana.

I am a voter and ashamed to say that I never really new my candadidates before I voted for them. The primary is coming people and please for your sake and the sake of our county read what has been going on the past few years and vote for the good of all people not just because the person running for office is a friend of a friend. We need to know what they stand for and how they intend to improve our community and if they havent done anything these past few years than its obviously time to change it!!!

Anonymous said...

you know i was raised in starke co. but have not lived ther for 17yrs, i miss hearing he obts. on the radio on my way to work, sad to say some times this is the only way i hear of deaths of friends i know wish you could bring them back , is one of the main reason i litsen to know radio. thanks

Sorry Republican Party, I'm a Tea
Party enthusiast. I'm not interested in your party if all you can produce is re-treads like Dan Coats. Don't you get it, we want a complete repudiation of what we've seen in Washington. Bush goes there, and it's spend, spend, spend. Obama goes there and
it's socialism. The Republican Party must completely embrace what we want, or we form our own party.
Believe me there's more of us, than
you! We want a complete political revolution like has never been seen
before. Very, very, conservative is mainstream. Wake up and smell the coffee. We're the Palin Party.

Anonymous said...

LOL Palin LOL Now THATS FUNNY!!!!

Anonymous said...

Dont believe everything you read in the newspaper, or what is said on the radio. Remember there are two sides to EVERY story. Just because someone is arrested, doesnt mean they are guilty. What happened to fair trials? This is regarding recent battery story.

Anonymous said...

Dear Tea Party third party person,
Here is a fact. Go ahead and form your own party if you want to help Obama. Reminder. Ralph Nader ran in Florida in 2000. Zero chance of winning but he got thousands of votes. Becaise Nader took votes away from Gore, the vote in fl. between Bush and Gore came down to a few hundred votes. Then the supreme court had to decide it. but without nader, Gore would have been pres. So the nader candidacy got Bush elected and Tea Party will help Obama and the Dems.sometimes reallity is too real. I think the Tee Party should run there own candidates. Im a Democrat and we are going to need all the help we can get in Nov. and right now the Tee Party creating a third party is our best hope.

Bass Lake residents complaining about what happens on the beach? Well at least their lives are so good that that is all they have to complain about! You have lake access people!!! Dont worry about the campground and beach unless there is Noise or pollution! Get a life! I wonder if it was Locals or the people from Illinois that think they are our savoir for spending money around here? The arrogance amazes me! The locals that live here year round we dont hear too much from so I will have to assume the latter!

2 days !!!!! it took 2 days and cancellation of at least 4 shifts for MPI to give any sort of notice that shifts were shut down due to power failure ?!?! youd think that "they" would be abit simpathetic especially to those that live outside of knox and starke county which is quite a few of the workforce but nah lets make em all drive an hour and in somecases 1 1/2 hours round trip to be turned around in the parking lot ! there was a time when H.R. and managment in general thought a little more highly of its workerrs but i can see those days are long since gone . sorry to all of you that are against the "anonymous posters" but for the sake of my high paying job im posting anonymously....thanks wkvi for finally letting us lowly factory workers get a little notice of whats going on

Anonymous said...

People are making cuts on the Schools, which the kids are suppose to be LEAVE NO CHILD BEHIND.Why don't the school board members donate their money back into the school system? They shouldn't even get paid they should want to help the school system most of them have jobs I'm sure they don't depend on the money as an income.

Anonymous said...

I think it is totally cool that Knox Elementary School is having a Family Carnival Night....but they are charging $15 per child, and food is extra. I'm sure I am not alone when I say, that price is rediculous! With so many families struggling to make ends meet, many of these children will not be able to attend the festivities because their parents simply cannot afford such a high price. This event is only 2 hours long, and "Prizes" are being dangled in front of the children as an incentive, if their parents can afford to allow them to attend. I feel really sorry for those families that have more then one child in the school. The prices seem completely absurd. Shame on you KCES!

Anonymous said...

Hey lowly factory worker;
LOL your still employed right? You will probably end up with some overtime out of this as well right? Seeing as the unemployment rate is so high lately I think you should be more focused on keeping MPI afloat rather than bashing them in community forums! I have no affiliation with the place but know that if you dont like it there is a pretty good percentage of people willing to work and make that drive for the benefits you seem to take for granted! LOL Modern America = A bunch of spoiled workers; myself included. Look people if we are going to succeed as a nation we have to ditch the entitlement mentality. None of us are innocent, we all do it. We really need to focus on things to make our jobs more secure, rather than what we can bleed from them! I am no company man but reality has to set in somewhere.

Wasn't one of the lead stories of this week was that the Starke Co. property tax bills were coming out. If they had been mailed on Monday, shouldn't they have arrived today? Find out where they are, are they coming by fast time from South Bend or slow time from Gary. North Judson's small effect post office stays open longer than the big modern Knox office. Or maybe Pony Express is needed now!

Tom has been pushing Face Book for WKVI, so could he explain just how to use it to find out what is there. Some of us just plain don't know. A lot of listeners will thank him!

Who can I call in Knox about a barking dog? This one next to our house has the strongest lungs and
voice box I've ever heard. 24-7 has a new meaning since "Sparky" came into out life. Don't tell me to talk to the neighbors they have already told me to get lost.

Anonymous said...

I guess the police?

It isnt the dogs fault. The neighbor should take responsability to keep it somewhat quiet. Dogs will bark, it is normal, and it is your neighbors right to have a dog. However if it really is excessive then something should be done. If it were me I may even offer to split the cost of a barking collar for the dog? That will teach it to be quiet, and show the neighbor your not being a jerk complaining about them having a dog. Rather, someone wanting to resolve a bothersome issue hopefully satisfying both parties?

If the neghbor is normally a jerk and the police wont help? Then ya gotta do? what ya gotta do! Just do it well! This is soley my opinion!

Anonymous said...

I would call the police and complain. Maybe there is some sort of noise ordinance???

i got one of my property tax bills today (thursday)

bill up 19.21%

the value of my house went up $1300, $106,000 on a 2 bedroom home on 2 acres in center 5. i would jump for joy if i could get that much.

didnt the housing market and values go down.

did anyone elses values go up in the down market, i bet so
let me know, i am just a few dollars shy of the 1% cap

Anonymous said...

i havent seen anything else wrote on this or maybe im just missing something but it bothers me ....ive read lately that the sherrif wants healthcare and better food for the jail ? and the prossecuter bought guns for the police in this area ? im sure any help no matter how big or small towards anything is more than welcomed be it an inmate with no way to pay for medical needs or a cop than might as well be throwing rocks at some of these "pillars of society" that are toting heavier hardware than a navy seal.....but cmon be a sport and do it during the dawn of your term and not in the twilight of it. now granted i dont vote republican OR democrat, liberal, conservative, left or right.... could really care less who youre sleeping with what your last name is or just how big of a hellian your kid(s)are... i try to base mine on who I BELIEVE WILL DO A BETTER JOB ! but reading some of this stuff makes me chuckle...anyway i was just wondering if im the only one that noticed it

Anonymous said...

well of course your tax bills went up who do you think is gonna pay for the cuts the state gave our local counties? IT is all a scam anyway! I think you can request a re appraisal. Or have it appraised on your own? Call the county government and ask.

Anonymous said...

You people overlook something on the tax cap anyways, the cap is on the tax rate they can charge you for your property value. There is no cap they can raise the amount you can assess your house at. That is the catch.

As far as spending goes for our sheriffs dept, that they are so proud of getting their m-14 and night vision, Is that a thing to be proud of or announce during these hard economic times. I think I would have done it but I do not think I would have let it out. Now for the criminals that they know that You don't think they can go bigger or better? Whats wrong is if you let your oponent know what you have then of course, he'll have better. somethings are better left alone in times like these

Anonymous said...

So were they supposed to keep the yellow card when we turned stuff in at environment days? They gave me mine back and someone else I talked to said they were given their card back as well. I wondered what the point was of filling in my name/address info on the back of the card if nobody was collecting them.

Is the public aware of the changes being made at Knox Middle School? A math teacher is being transferred to the high school instead of them hiring one. This has caused a total overhaul and destruction of the middle school program. Sudents will have half the time in math that they currently do. The only time a student will have computers will be in 6th grade. This is a great idea for a world that is becoming increasingly dependent on technology. Hope kids don't have any artistic talent because they only have that for one semester in their entire middle school career. These changes certainly won't leave Knox children behind. (Yes, that is sarcasm)

Oh, and they will go from three lunches to two, without adding any extra time to move that many kids through the line. Hope the kids don't get heartburn from eating so fast! Plus, there will be so many students eating at once, new tables need to be purchased and a cashier hired.

Anonymous said...

When was this decided about the school? I have a kid their and one that will be soon and I haven't heard anything. I don't get why a change needs to be made. How's shorter math classes going to help her? Plus, she complained so much about not getting enough time to eat cause of the line that she started packing a lunch.

Who makes these decisions? Do they even have kids? Obviously not.

Now it would be nice to see how many locals get the opportunity to work on the new bridge project that we've received grants for. It's great to get this, but would be a double bonus to keep the income as local as possible, for you'd be surprised how much it benefits local business as well. Any $ the county can bring in needs to be kept circulating locally as long as possible, which in turn builds community wealth. So to hire an out-of-town outfit for the job would be very unwise.

Anonymous said...

I do NOT see ANY benefit of all these Illinois people coming here in the summer. I see NO benefit to our tax base. I only see a few businesses they frequent, and they actually think very lowly of US LOCALS. I've had many a conversation w/ them that was very respectful until I told them I'm a Starke Co. lifer. I would love to know how much of the HIGH Property tax that they pay actually benefits Starke Co. residents....NIL

Yeah, my son explained that art is being reduced to 1 semester, & computer class is only in the 6th grade. THAT'S ATROCIOUS! Art can be an elective, but computer class is a NECESSITY! We as parents need to attend the school board meeting & make our voice heard. I THINK WE ARE FULLY CAPABLE OF UNDERSTANDING AN AUDIT, & A FULL REVIEW OF EVERY PERSON'S INCOME ON OUR SCHOOL'S PAY-ROLL. AND WE UNDOUBTABLY WANT TO KNOW WHO VOTED FOR THESE MEASURES. You WILL be hearing from US.

I agree, the people coming out of Illinois are more of a burden if you ask me. Yes they spend money at local stores. Then complain about everything, and think the business owes them for just coming in! Keep your attitudes and money in Illinois for all I care I would rather not deal with you! If you cant be NICE to us locals then get movin on! We can live just fine without you!

Our dear friend Adam Ulanicki suffered a heart attack while driving his truck on 23 & 8 on April 28,2010. He then went off the road and struck a tree. He was found out and away from his vehicle. Adam was the sweetest man who would do ANYTHING for ANYONE. It was a priveledge to have known him. The article you posted couldn' be more wrong. It's not that nothing exciting happens in Hamlet, a lot happens in Hamlet but, the law enforcement and town board do a very good job of covering things up. Next time you feel the need to go to jail just call the Hamlet Town Marshall, that is always his reply "If I have to come out there someone is going to jail" or he just never shows up at all. Oh believe me, there is plenty going on in Hamlet.

Anonymous said...

I moved to Hamlet from a bigger city (Mishawaka) and I am soooo confused. I lived in a house with 7 people and my water bill never went over $35 or 2300 gallons. Now I live in Hamlet, all by myself, ever month I receive the same bill 3100 gallons for $77. Is this correct? I have no water pressure and the amount of chlorine that is in this water has a major impact on me because I am allergic to chlorine. Honestly, does the guy running the water company know what he is doing or is that big fat pay check all that he is after? I hear people complain about the big city folks but, I must admit, this little town rips you off worse then they ever did. I feel sorry for all the older folks in town that live on fixed incomes.

Anonymous said...

The Water guy is more interested in doing side work on town time thats why there are lots of pot holes.
The clerk is never there- where is she? you can find her in Toto waiting on tables or selling houses.

I have heard that Knox Middle school is changing its schedule to shorten classes. I would like to know how our superintendent and the school board can justify shortening math/LA classes when the middle school is the only one that makes AYP from the state. As a parent, it doesn't make much sense to reduce the time on important subjects that the state is testing you on!! Well, Mr. Gappa and school board, how will you justify this to the parents?

Anonymous said...

WKVI- Shame on you. I listened to the show for raising money for the Youth Club. I was sad to hear some of the candidates use that air time to talk and to let people know they were running for office. We weren't there to hear this. We were there to appreciate the people who so willing donated to this cause. The candidates could have just gave a donation and left it at that. Great job to the the volunteers!

You Know MPI International INC Would be more considerate to there former employees. Alot of the employees got laid off some got laid of permantely now they wont let the premantely laid off ones re apply for there jobs back which i never missed one day worked my butt off everyday to please all of my bosses even went to chicago to reinspect parts that 2nd shift shipped bad parts that means bad Quailty and had to stay out there for 2 days to inspect those parts. I did everything they asked me to do because that was my job now i try to go back to my job that i worked for years and Now they wont let me back because i'm one of the ones who got laid off premantely, but in all said im enjoying life on unemployment and they are still paying for my pay checks.... I wish they had better Human Resources in there Factory for true employees have a chance to get there job's back who deserve it I miss my Job, Bosses and My co-Workers but mainly i miss clocking in everyday or night then going to my station... What we need is better judgement in there ....

If we all focus in something more better for this community instead of guns , better food for the inmates we should use the money for a Homeless Shelter for those who are roaming around w/ out food or shelter holding up signs...If that's not sad then some people who doesn't agree are sick and selfish we wouldn't have so many crimes and violence in this small town if they would open one up for men and women and for there children too!!! What are you gonna do take the children from there parents put them in a foster home now thats like a shelter isn't it then leave the parents to fend on there own untill they are stable enough to get back on there feet if we would all pitch in and help people who are in need of help like raising money for the homeless then are community would be a better place and more friendlier then it is now...

Wonder how you get a water or clerk job. I could see working some where else while I am being paid to work for the town of Hamlet. Why didn't Hamlet get their share of the $375,000 energy grant? Are we not part of Starke County? Or are we just not hearing about it because so many people want to know what happened to the last amount of money Hamlet got?

Anonymous said...

i've read a couple posts about MPI on here and all i can say is : revolving door hiring, inept H.R.,average "on job" time is probably only 2-3 years ? compared to closer to 10 just a short time ago, a weeks training by someone that has never stepped foot or more appropriately put on a pair of gloves on the shop floor. Sure Tom does the best he can but everything was alot better under Alex. And yes we all know you should be thankful for a job in times like these ..but for the person who posted the "dear lowly factory worker" you either dont know anyone out there, are def or maybe even have a job where you arent dumped on on a daily basis. as for benefits ummmm yeah sure LOL . you mean crap INS. with a H U G E weekly premium , OR my favorite ! not being allowed to use the restrooms because god forbid when corporate came to visit management didnt want us common folk peeing in the gold leaf adorned stalls and urinals only to be lied to when confronted about it with an "i dont know what youre talking about" even though the doors had signs stating it. So Mr.Job with Respect, frikkin AWESOME benefits is right ! (ask anyone WITHOUT AN OFFICE THERE)

Anonymous said...

I wrote the dear lowly factory worker post and I will respond to your post. First I do know people who work there. Second I pay almost $150 a week for my benefits where I work, recieving (I'll wager) less than an MPI worker gets. Being able to go to work and collect a paycheck is also a benefit of employment wouldnt you say? What factory worker in this area hasnt been "dumped on" it comes with the job. When it was looking like the place was going to close everyone was worried. Now that it has found a way to stay open the bashing begins again. How about appreciating the fact that a couple hundred people can still clock in to work at MPI? No job is going to give a worker total happiness. It isnt supposed to! This is what I meant by us all being spoiled workers.
I have heard all good things about Alex and really have a high opinion of him even though I have never personally him.
Unfortunately he isnt there any longer and nobody can help that. Just be happy you are working. Not satisfied.... because you should always keep options open but happy is good! The company isnt here to do you favors, you are here to work and collect a check that is all they worry about.
If they didnt allow you to use the restroom that is against the law. Or was it the restroom that you wanted to use because the floor one is dirty and run down?

By no means am I saying that MPI is great and you should bow down to whatever tactics the "OFFICE" uses. But remember, Rockewll of Randolphs lesson an "unreliable workforce" or "disgruntled" could be a deciding factor in plant survival! Right here in town it has happened before lets not see it again!

Lastly I am not "def" or "deaf" I do wish you luck with your "JOB" though.

i think the school carnival night was a great idea. the school is trying to raise money for a led sign to display school events and having a school carnival is a great way to raise money so it does not come out of the school budget. of that fifteen dollars half of that goes towards prizes that are nice for the kids and not generic.where else can you go with your kid that costs only fifteen dollars to play games and win prizes. from what i've heard they have alot of people attending already so fifteen dollars must not be to absurd.

Anonymous said...

I WAS AT SCHOOL WORKING TODAY AND WAS TOLD ABOUT A BLOG ON WKVI ABOUT CARNIVAL NIGHT AT KNOX ELEM. SCHOOL. MY CHILD IS GOING I THOUGHT $15 WAS A GREAT DEAL FOR A FAMILY FUN NIGHT, I THINK MOST PEOPLE CAN AGREE WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU TOOK YOUR KID TO A FUN CENTER OR CHUCKIE CHEESE AND ONLY SPENDING $15, NOT TO MENTION YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DRIVE FAR SO YOU SAVE GAS MONEY.I HAVE HEARD OF THE PRIZES THEY ARE GIVING AWAY AND I THINK THEY ARE VERY NICE FOR THE KIDS. IT LEAST FOR THE $15 YOU ARE GETTING SOMETHING FOR YOUR MONEY, AND TIME WITH YOUR CHILD IN A SAFE ENVIROMENT. PLUS BY THEM HAVING SO MANY GAMES THE KIDS WILL NOT BE STANDING IN LINE FOR A LONG TIME TO PLAY. SO THE SCHOOL IS CHARGING $15 BUT THEY ARE ONLY MAKING $6 TO $7 PER CHILD THE REST OF THE MONEY GETS PUT TOWARDS PRIZES FOR THESE KIDS, AND EACH KID COULD WIND UP WITH 8 TO 15 PRIZES A PIECE THATS GREAT FOR THE KIDS, ITS BETTER THAN GIVING THEM SOME LAME JUNK OR A TOSSIE ROLL. I AM GLAD THEY ARE DOING THIS, AND I BET IF YOU REALLY HAD A PROBLEM AND COULD NOT AFFORD IT CALL THE SCHOOL AND WHO IS RUNNING IT AND MAYBE THEY WILL GIVE YOU A BETTER PRICE IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD $15. BUT EVEN WHEN TIMES ARE TOUGH WHATS $15. I AM LOOKING FOWARD TO SPENDING A FEW HOURS WITH MY SON AT THIS EVENT I APPLAUD THE SCHOOL FOR PUTTING SOMETHING TOGETHER NICE LIKE THIS AND NOT MAKING IT A JOKE OF AN EVENT. CANT WAIT TO HAVE THAT LITTLE CEASERS PIZZA.

This is to the comment I believe was in the Feb.post about not needing a permit to build on your property. If this is so why when you apply for one that we are not told this? And if you fail to apply you will be fined.

I think the kces school carnival is a great idea! I thought the fifteen dollars was reasonable but if you have more than one kid i think they should of discounted some.Thats fine though i am looking forward to an evening with my kids and from what i hear theres lots of games and prizes. cant wait for little caesars pizza i think that was a great addition.this is the first yr the school has brought back a carnival night and i remember having one when i was in school and it was alot of fun. great idea KCES!

Anonymous said...

In regards to the permit issue. If you own your house and property, No you do not need a permit. Why don't they tell you this when you apply? That's simple, this is Starke County and they will take your money anyway they can get it. If you do not know any better, they sure are not going to tell you any better.

Why is it when you go to pay your property taxes that the women up there are rude and snotty. They should be happy if it was not for us tax payers they would have no job. Come on probably 90% of the year those people all they do is sit in there office and gossip. Would it kill them to be nice to you, I wish those workers were elected officials and maybe they would have a better attitude. What an easy job they have is rudeness one of the qualifications to work there.Whoever overseas this needs to think about getting training in manners and treating public with respect. next election this may sway my vote beause it reflects on them.

Anonymous said...

I have been at working at MPI for many years. I do remember the good times the employees used to have there. A long time ago the employees were friendly and greeted another employee or boss with respect. The bosses used to come onto the floor and say good morning. We used to have Christmas parties, outings, carry ins (that were not cancelled), and of course the good insurance. I know the enconomy has changed and prices of everything has gone up, but that doesn't mean a company should treat there employees like crap. No RESPECT, no proper TRAINING, no COMMUNACATION!!!! There is no FUN at MPI any more, most of the employees dread coming to work and have a grimious look on there face when walking through the door to clock in.I know everybody says be thankful you have a job, but a lot of the employees hold there breath and don't say anything because they are afraid they will get fired. There is an HR dep. but the employees can't even talk to them. The training consist of being hired as a temp. then being thrown onto the floor with maybe 2 days or if that person is lucky 1 week of inconsistent training(not fair to the new person)or the new person is being trained by someone that has only been there for 1 to 2 weeks. GOOD QUALITY! The bosses push for parts to get out, but yet with sometimes only 2 people on a line or the parts are not even off the press yet. The operators tell the bosses problems(about machines or parts) and in response get a NO answer or a DUMB founded look. Then most of the time nothing is resolved. I know that may be at other work places too, but how does MPI plan on keeping in business with this crap going on and NOBODY will LISTEN to the EMPLOYEES!!!

There are a lot of posts That I would like to address but I don"t think there is enough time to do that. First of all that is right if you own your home you do not have to get any building permits, call your congressman and they will tell you the same. To really research this more you would have to contact the Plymouth paper, they did a big write up on it a few years back. If you do get a county permit, You will notice it says right there that the project was inspected to the best of his ability at that time, what does this really mean, it means that if something happens all's he has to say is I am not aware of that code at the time this was inspected or given the certificate of occupancy. i don't know how hw got the job, but he sure is lacking in the construction field. Hire somebody with the experience to help us and not just pass it off. Besides we pay his checks. Well enough on that subject except for one more thing or question. Is it that the building inspector for the county is judge and jury when it comes to issuing citations. I know a few people and contractors that have been fined for starting a project early, then I know some that have been caught while finishing a project, with no bond or insurance that just got told to go register. That is really fair.

Now I guess we will do a little as far as the town of Hamlet goes. The clerk there does not even have to be there at all, she or her partner are there sometimes. They make a joke out of it. It does make it rough when you need to get some information or something done. It must be nice to collect 27,000 a year and not work for it.But tghey all forget, they are elected and there will be another election coming up and hopefully this time the people are going to elect someone honest. I can't believe she is in there to start with. Then she is suppose to control the spending, a couple of the city workers there are out doing private jobs while still getting paid and sometimes they even use the city equipment to get these done. Hamlet seems like a good town for raising a family, but for the people there and the water and sewage bills, they are ridiculous along with the taxes, if these people would wah
ke up and vote for someone that tries or at least makes an attempt they would be better off thgan someone to take their money.

Hamlet on WKVI, wow I don't know who you would contact for them to come and check out the town books but I do know it does need to be done especially before the two town runners are gone, which will probably be this next election. If the State maybe were aware of what is going on I don't know.
Lets look at an example, right at the post office a few years ago they put in curb and sidewalk, an outside contractor did this. It was dug past the frostline and poured 4to6 inches deep plus the curb. It was inspected and they poured it, right across the street tghey did tghe same job, but the concrete is maybe 3 1/2 inches deep and the curb it layd tied to the sidewalk and maybe 9-10 inches deep, this project was done by city personnel, while on the clock and they used the city equipment to tear up the concrete and haul it off. Somebody needs to do something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now the school system, Knox schools have a low dropout rate according to what the school turns in. But did you know that if you have a 16,17 year old that has enough problems that thgey want to quit school, and believe me there are a lot more than you think, a lot more, well anyway the school lets you take your child out, this puts a bad mark about the school, after you remove your child the school puts it in record with the dept. of motor vehicles, then your son or daughter can not get drivers license until they are 21, you then get a notice, you being thge parent don't want this to happen so you contact the school and they give you 2 choices, the child can return to school or you can sign the paperwork that you are going to home school them, that is what they do. If you transfer your child to a home school it is a transfer not a dropout and therefore the school shows all these transfers instead of being dropouts, and if your child already has license the school will have them revoked, so it is sort of a blackmail scheme to keep their scores low for dropouts, and in the school paperwork that means a lot less money for them.

About the bridge work, are you kidding me, they build the school, added to a school, did a great deal of sidewalks, repaved a lot of streets, added to the hospital, a lot of work, have you ever scene any people from the county working on these projects? No, and you probably never will. Its like the industrial park where we give them free water and sewage and a lot in tax benefits and have yo ever scene any of the county people working there. No, that will probably never happen either. See for local people to do this it would all be kept around here and then the working person around here gets to know all about it and gets to see where the money goes. This would put a big hurt on our industrial park developer because it would mean less lawyering hours for travel and his bill to the city and county would be cut in half. That my friends is a lot of the reasons. We need all new experienced people that at least have an inkling of what is going on around them, not the money hungry and power thirsty animals that we have now.

TAXES GONE UP YOUR JOKING!!!!!!!

Just think we have not reached the cap yet. See that is another joke they capped the tax rate there is no doubt about it. Now to make the politicians look good we will come close to the cap, but some of them will be telling us see we kept taxes down by not reaching the cap, and while you are listening to them on the radio, you can't see them but they are signing for the value of your property increase. And if you noticed we didn't get the high tax cap until all the property values bottomed out. So now as property goes up the more your tax bill is, but we have a cap remember, but that is on the tax rate not the market value of your house which should rise in thge next few years, amazing isn't it?

Hamlet again, oh no..Well lets aee the town road guy related to the toen guy that does the vehicle repairs,,, HMMMMMM... I bet if you took the repair bills for the wotk done for the past 10 years and you just look at the parts used on these bills and then compare that to the parts store where he purchases his parts, you are going to find a great discrepency, the parts were never really bought or they were bought and returned for credit, or traded for parts for other vehicles. Just as Ive scene happen over his famous, its your computer or timing chain, when it was a bad plug wire. Can anyone out there tell me where to write or call to get this whole thing looked at?

TAX, TAX, TAX, TAX, TAX THATS ALL YOU HEAR ANYMORE. US NORMAL PEOPLE WHEN WE DONT HAVE THE MONEY FOR OUR BUDGET WE MAKE CUTS AND IMPROVISE, BUT THE GOVERMENT IF THEY WANT IT RATHER THAN MAKING DEEP CUTS THEY WOULD RATHER JUST RAISE OUR TAXES THAT IS EASIER. I LIKE THE COMMENT ON THE POST ABOUT HOW SNOTTY THE PEOPLE AT THE TAX OFFICE IS, THAT IS SO TRUE. THEY HAVE TO MANY EMPLOYEES AS IT IS UP THERE. WHEN IS SOMEBODY GOING TO HAVE THE GUTS TO STAND UP ON ISSUES AND BUCK THE SYSTEM THIS IS WHAT US ORDINARY PEOPLE WANT TO HAPPEN, I CANNOT WAIT UNTI THAT DAY COMES THAT PERSON WILL RECEIVE MANY VOTES. ALL THESE PEOPLE DO WHEN THEY GET IN OFFICE IS SAY THEY WILL DO THINGS BUT THEY ALL STICK TO THE STATUS QUO. WHAT ABOUT US WORKING PEOPLE TRYING TO MAKE ENDS MEAT, IF WE DID WHAT POLITICIANS DID TAKE AND TAKE WHEN YOU NEED IT WE WOULD BE IN COUNTY ORANGE IN JAIL, MAYBE THATS WHERE THESE POLITICIANS NEED TO BE. HAS ANY OF THESE POLITICIANS EVER THOUGHT THEY COULD GENERATE BUSINESS ANS MAKE ARE AREA BETTER MAKE STARKE COUNTY TAXES VERY CHEAP AND PEOPLE WILL COME HERE TO LIVE AND OPEN BUSINESS, YES WE MAY HAVE A LOT LESS MONEY COMING IN AT FIRST BUT IF YOU GIVE IT A CHANCE YOU WILL HAVE MORE PEOPLE BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY WHICH WILL MAKE UP FOR THAT CUT AND LOOK AND SEE YOU WILL BE MAKING MORE MONEY THAN BEFORE. BUT THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN THAT WOULD BE TO MUCH WORK FOR THESE PEOPLE AND MIGHT MAKE THERE BUDDIES MAD. DOES ANYONE ELSE FEAL THIS WAY. I AM VERY UPSET THAT ARE COUNTY IS ALWAYS BEHIND THE TIMES DO NOT HAVE AS MUCH BUSINESS AND BY OTHER CITIZENS IN SURROUNDING COUNTIES THINK THAT COMING HERE IS A STEP BACK, IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS WAY.

Good job election night WKVI. Only wish you could expand coverage in Marshall County during the general election. We're in the dark when it comes to fast results and commentary. Lenny, Ted, Ed, Anita, did a good. The girl from Winamac gave them coverage also. Intrviews from party headquarters were insightful. Plymouth, and Culver people listen to your station too. Hire Jeff Kenny for election night. We want to embrace you...give us a chance!

Well you done did it primary voters. You gave us retread Dan Coats for the general election. Please check my blog from April 15th. Just look at him he looks like death warmed over. Is this the vibrant man we want to represent our conservative values in the U.S. Senate. Hopefully someone can keep him awake during debates. At least we got Jackie.

Re: Hamlet, if you find out where to have this whole thing looked at let us in Hamlet know. As far as the repair shop, it is said that if you take your car in, there is a good chance you will be back in 3 weeks for something else. Coincidence? Must be nice to take from the community but, never give back.

Does anyone else's teenager who attends O-D, come home talking about some substitute that cusses in class, takes head count and then allows them to do whatever they want? I am sorry but, my child goes to school to gain an education. Is this the type of sub's that O-D hires? How is that educating MY child. I am told that they are allowed to talk on their cell phones and even wonder the halls freely. Does this person gain a paycheck of some sort for doing this job? If this is all that is needed to sub then I am surprised that all the people who are without jobs aren't lining up to become substitutes.
