I wonder why these these motorcycle have to be so loud.

sysco is not going to build here.the super intelligent people runnig the show around here must not have made sysco sign a contract before all the millions of our tax dollars was spent on inferstructure. they should scrap out the water tower and the water and sewer lines so we can at least get some of our money back from a big mistake!

Anonymous said...

Ohhh,Sysco Ohhh Pancho

Anonymous said...

Are they really putting a Dairy Queen in the old Pizza King building?

Anonymous said...

motorcycles are loud because people pay no attention to them or anything else when driving their illegal golf carts at bass lake

Anonymous said...

no the drive in by the fire station looks to be liquor store and convience store with a drive thru window, there is a liquor posting in the window about meetings etc for the liquor permit, the ground that the building is on belongs to starke county tax payers and is part of the same ground that the medical complex is on and all is across the street from 3 schools, now with walgreens and cvc selling alcohol i think thats enough all in the same area. the mess at the at burger dairy store is still not cleaned up, that needs attentiion now by the city to force it.

Congradulations on the three ladies singing God Bless America, so instead of telling everybody who may not have a computer to watch it, why not play the recording of them singing it again, you did record it, did you not Tom? What a nice positive representative of our young people here in Starke County!

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY--so try and remember to predict and deliver more of these lovely INDIANA days!

I know I did not like the horse droppings up town either and they even had the horses by the taco bell now that I think should be illegal as that is a food establishment.
They are wrong they are not legal on all streets. A few years back people got a fine for being up on city streets with them.
they need to stay in the country if they want to ride them.

Anonymous said...

If someone wants to open a store to make money and wants to sell liquor and they have all the permits and is not breaking the law what is wrong with that dont like it dont buy it

Anonymous said...

tattoos in knox, nope law against it. sell a hampster in knox, nope law against it. another liquor store on highway, sure why not.
permits to sell liquor, no they dont have it, thats what the posted sign is about, for people to attend meeting, to say yes or no to selling liquor on tax payer owned ground.

On the North Judson Police subject I think that the officers must at least know the law ie. what is and what is not allowed. The paper lady was making her stops in town when she got stopped. When I asked her why did you get stopped? she said "I pulled over to the point drive inn to arrange my papers I was not even driving and the officer said when asked why are you asking for my drivers license his comment was I saw you pull over, and have your doom light on. Now I know this lady has been doing papers for at least 15 years and does it everyday, not to mention I did not know it was a crime to park and have your doom light on anyway. I do not know if the chief of police needs to give a test or not but at least put people that know what they are doing, and not pulling people over in the early morning hours hopefully to gain an D.U.I bust.

Horses in town? I love it, after all we are a agricultural community. Horses can plow waht can a cat or dog do that all you people so adore. Do people pick up after their pets like the horse people should? And by the way it is illegal in the state of Indiana to sell alcohol out of a drive up window!

Anonymous said...

I'm assuming the paper carrier did not get a ticket. The police are just doing their job when they stop to check a vehicle like that. There are plenty of drug deals going on in the area. Even though she wasn't doing anything wrong, they don't know that until they check. That's better than if they were getting paid to sit around doing nothing.

Anonymous said...

Estok's have a great lease on the building next to the fire station. Doesn't really matter what anyone say's, if the license is available, they will get it. Doesn't even matter who is apply, it will be handed out. At least we're getting a new business? Wish someone would do something about Jerry's Burger Dairy building. Come on Greg.

Cosidering the fact that I am mother 0f 4, I must address the kidnapping matter in Knox! To all parents...If your children go out on bike rides, walks, etc..Make sure that they are not alone! If you allow your children to play in the yard, Keep a very close eye on them!! Elementary children are not capable of babysitting toddlers! IT IS YOUR JOB TO KEEP YOUR CHILDREN SAFE!!!!

as for the paper lady getting questioned when she stopped....last i knew judson wasnt a sprawling metropolis and anybody doing that for such a long period of time is more than likely known by everyone so thats just ignorrant.......maybe next they can arrest that pesky mail carrier for always walking up on my front steps for trespassing !

Reg Unleaded is $4.15 The other day I put $10 gas in my car for a trip to Laporte and back. We have heard many times since the oil embargo in 1973 that most cars get best mileage at 55mph. Everyone passed me doing at least 65. This was US35 where max speed limit is 55. Two people gave me unfriendly hand gestures as they roared by me. One was a pickup truck pulling a huge horse trailer. Bet he was getting 5mpg as his horse's tail was blowing in the wind. Seemed funny at the time. Safe to say doing 55 I did not pass anyone.

Are you aware that it is a crime to lie to a federal official? Any lie to any federal official is a prosecutable offense. If you or I told the kind of lie that Anthony Weiner told to the voters of New York and the people of America, we'd be in court at the least and most likely in jail. Not for any crime we may have committed. Just for telling the lie. Why should Congressman Weiner be held to a lesser standard than you or I?

Anonymous said...

Actually...baseball players that denied using steroids & then found guilty of using them are looking @ Federal Prison time...not for steroids...but for lying. So YES...WHY IS WEINER NOT BEING INDICTED & HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD? At the very least he should be removed from office.

Why doesn't someone trim the trees on main street that block all of the stop signs? Every time I drive down main street, I think to myself...if I wasn't local, I wouldn't even know those signs are there. Well, I just came home from town and nearly got killed by a driver's ed car that sped right through one of those signs without even slowing. The instructor didn't realize he did it until he heard my horn blaring! Maybe a child getting hit crossing the street is what it takes to get something done????

Something should be done at Bass Lake. There is an area on the road around Bass Lake that NEEDS to have safety rails, like the ones on roadways at dropp-off points, installed. This area is by the spot they locally call "the pocket". Cars are continually parking in this area and allowing their children to wonder around on the roadway and shoulder right next to the road. Most time there are several cars and trucks parked in this area and it is necessary to travel into the opposite lane of oncomming traffic to avoid hitting them, or the people wondering around and children darting into the roadway. Are we going to wait untill there is an accident or a child killed in this area before we do the right thing ?!?!

On the Treasurer/ Commissioner story: Linda Belork asked for $6000. in stamps to mail out delinquent bill notices. Here are the county stats according to City-data.com:
County pop in July 2009: 23,530
County owner-occupied houses and condos: 7,065
Renter-occupied apartments: 1,675

that's approx a total of 7700 residential bldgs. Commercial bldgs may not be represented here?? 7700(bldgs) x .44 (stamp)=3388.

First off, you can't tell me everyone is delinquent and suddenly it seems to cost a whole lot more than .44 to mail a letter. What the heck is going on??? Thank you commissioners for questioning this!!!
Also, maybe they should consider a post card mailer to save even more.

Anonymous said...

What's up with the treasurer? She's handles the counties money but can't balance her, I mean, our budget. $6,000 seems like a lot of money for stamps.

Anonymous said...

maybe why there are illegal aliens working at the bucket factory is because no one wants to work there? Its easier to get disability or unemployment.

Anonymous said...

I was going to ask the same thing about the treasurer. Seems like an awfully high price to pay for stamps and to tell a property owner of their known obligation to pay taxes. Seems like to me that in this electronic era, that maybe the Treasurer could post a list online at WKVI of who hasnt paid their taxes. A little embarassment could be a nice reminder of who needs to pay taxes on time would not cost $6000.00. Maybe the commissioners could use the $6000 bucks to balance her budget, so they know how much money the county has on hand, or are they going to wait until $864,000 dollars is overspent

Anonymous said...

I think if you read the whole article about the prosecutor dismissing cases,I believe the state made some mistakes with the drug testing. If there is not proof positive, you can't prosecute people.

After 21 years since the Americans With Disabilities Act was passed, the city has now begun to recognize their responsibility to provide Disability Accessible Parking. However it may take another 21 years before they understand the meaning of the term Van Accessible. Not one of the Van Accessible spaces recently installed are Van Accessible. In addition the two Handicapped Parking signs installed on Pearl St. by the Community Center are facing south down the sidewalk behind some trees instead of facing the street were an intelligent installer would put it. I hope this is not representative of the mentality of our street department. Talk about dragging the city kicking and screeming.
If it hadn't been for the efforts of Thom Morin and Citizens For An Accessible Starke County they would never had done anything.

Anonymous from June 2nd, feel free to clean up the horse droppings. I seriously doubt the horses left droppings on purpose. Those people can't stop their horses from leaving droppings just like no one else in the world can stop their dogs or cats from leaving droppings on the ground. How many people clean up after their own pets in town? How about at the park? I am always finding dog feces all over the place that owners don't clean up, and most of it is in the playground where all the children play. And everyone pays taxes for the streets, so everyone should be able to use them as they please. If we don't want horses or their owners allowed in town, then we shouldn't be allowed in the country. Maybe they are thinking that we need to stay in the city if we want to do all the annoying things that we do. Maybe you should find a community that doesn't allow pets, then you won't have to worry about any kind of animal droppings....or you could pay for all the streets in town yourself and then have a real reason to complain about horse droppings on the street. I love seeing the horses in town, and I think plenty of other people do to.

Anonymous said...

There is an area on the north west corner of Bass Lake that NEEDS to be addressed. People are constantly parking in that area and either fishing right next to the road, or swimming in that area allowing their children to run around in and out of the street. I myself have had a few close calls while trying to drive through that area. The cars, many many times there are several parked in that area, are not off the road completely and passing by them means going into the lane of oncomming traffic. Twice children have darted out from behind cars into the street and I was forced to "slam" on the brakes to avoid them. Why are people allowed to utilize this area like this. There is a public beach area for swimming and other areas of the lake to park safely and fish. Let's stop complaining about slow moving golf carts and start worrying about SAFETY before we read about a accident of DEATH in that area.

Why isn'tJack Haut in Westville if it is so croweded here. When you are in jail it punishment for a crime not to have a life of luxury.

There are some serious problems with the KVA. My son has been verbally abused by an assistant coach, as well as myself and other mothers. I was told the coach that spoke to my child in that manner had quit, but as of today, June 18,2011 he was on the feild helping with warm-up. I pulled my son from the feild having madeit known my son would not be around tat coach weeks prior. Before I got my son, the head coach was in a heated arguement with a mother, swearing at her. Why is he a coach? I was told I couldn't help the kids because I admitted I may swear in front of them and wasw told this was not allowed. Understandable, but the coach did it today. NO repercussions. Also the assistant coach that had been verbal with my son claimed the complaint I had made was a lie, although his own family member witnessed it and addressed it. I did not put my son in the league to be treated in this manner.

Does anyone know the rules on fireworks? Had a cop come to my house and tell me that in town fireworks are not legal until june 29th. Not even fountains. Everyone else in town is allowed to light them what is up with that? So i called the police station and the lady answered the phone says they are ok until 11pm as long as they are legal. Maybe the police need to find out the rules.

Only in Starke County could one person get $100,000 for defending the county against an unhappy jail resident who had the legal right to purchase liquor and drive. Perhaps students needing a college education can kill a person, go to jail, get a college degree, get a lot of attention and freedom in 10 years. Now that one person has filed a lawsuit, won't there be lots more of them. I mean those people need private, air-conditioned, telephone and email equipped cells with places to get fresh air and study how to file lawsuits guided by greedy lawyers. Let's just out-source our criminals, after all they need a better jail. It was self=forfilling statement made by one of the comminnioners in the past, "It is just a matter of time before somebody sues the county." Strange that without money to build a new jail, the county can afford $100,000 to fight this! Who get it? Why can't you take bids from various lawyers for the right to defend the county? So folks send your children to the local jail, where they will be educated and released in 10 years with a degree! Too bad they will have to check answer yes to the question on job applications, was you ever convicted of a felony in the past? And everybody in their family will be so proud of how they straighten up their life and came out of jail! While down the road another family makes the sad journey to visit their family in a cemetery, where their loved one did not get to keep enjoying their life because another broke the law and a lot of hearts too==That is Really on Fair!

Correctional facilities are sued on a on going timeline. Remember all the inmates have to do is think of either how to escape or how to get back at those who put them in jail. Most will say its someone else fault their in jail. As far as a new jail for Starke Co , they have needed one for over 20 or 30 years. If your looking to place fault don't look at the commisioners who are trying to fix the problem now look at the commissioner for the past 20 years who set on their hands and did nothing.

Jack Haut has lived a worthless life, contributing no goodness to anyone, then taking the life of a very good man....AND NOW HE'S WASTING $100K OF TAXPAYER MONEY????? This is a total sign of how demented our society is. 100 years ago, they woulda taken him straight to the courthouse, had a speedy trial & hung him on the lawn. Justice...end of story. Now, with our such improving society, we let him, & other criminals, milk taxpayer $, then for some reason still give them rights. He should have NO RIGHTS. This is an atrocity. Maybe if they took the incentive off how much $ is given to jail for each inmate, we wouldn't move so slow. This is beyond an embarrassment for Starke Co & our society!

Shame on the people complaining of horses being ridden in the city of Knox and more specifically, in the Knox park. This is a small town and the children delight when they see horses in town. We have much bigger problems to deal with like Meth and domestic abuse and unemployment etc. Grow up people!
Also, I would like to address the people that are talking very negatively about Jack Haut. I personally do not know this man, and I understand that he killed a local favorite, however to those of you passing judgement on him I would like you to remember that he has family members that care about him and you are being totally disrespectful to them. They didn't commit the crime, but they are paying the price every-time you make these negative comments in a public forum. Try to be considerate of them.

Excuse me, but the people on here are talking about Jack Haut, not his family. This is a place where anyone can vent and air their views. If Jack's family reads the pieces here, then so be it. For what it's worth, he did commit a heinous crime.

I worked for the Department of Corrections for over 20yrs, and let me assure you that $100k for defense of a lawsuit is just a drop in the bucket. Inmates file lawsuits for reasons you would not believe. However, federal and state laws state that ALL lawsuits filed by inmates MUST be reviewed by a legal rep. for the state, county, or city. This means that there are lawyers being paid to review every lawsuit filed by inmates no matter how "silly" they appear. One example is am inmate in Indiana files a lawsuit on grounds of unfair treatment due to the fact that during the serving of the evening meal, he recieved one polish sausage on his tray while others were given two. I did not believe it either until the inmate showed me the documents himself. It was eventually dropped, but the point is that we spend millions every year to deal with these types of lawsuits filed by inmates. Not to mention the millions more spent on the other aspects of housing inmates every day. Cable TV, big screne televisions, POPCORN MACHENES, microwaves, recreation equiptment and other "comfort" items are provided for these inmates all by taxpayer dollars. Is it any wonder that all the jails and prisons are over crowded.

Betty said...

Maybe I should go to jail so I could have all the comforts of life. I don't have a big screen tv or cable! And a popcorn machine to go along with those would be great.

I agree with the person who said these comments are not about Jack Haut's family. He is the one that is being discussed and the fact is he killed a man. I don't know either of them, but if it had been my husband on that motorcycle, I can only imagine how I would feel!

Just out of curiosity, if anyone reads this blog that has left nasty remarks about Governor Daniels' visit on facebook, I'd like to know what it is about his polices that you don't like...is it the fact that he's creating jobs in Indiana by reducing taxes for small businesses? Is it the fact that he's gotten Indiana in the 'black' by 'paying out less than we take in'? Is it the fact that he's got some (and rather large) corporations who are based in other states looking to relocate here, due to being 'employer friendly'? (maybe not in Starke County, but in the state) I would really like to know just why you despise him so, to the point of leaving such horrible remarks...I also commented on the wkvi story about him visiting Kersting's, but I have seen some really vile things on wkvi's facebook page...I just would like to understand where you're coming from, and why you are so afraid to acknowledge these good things he's done for this state. I would appreciate a little feedback (in a friendly way, please) and let me know why you're so bitter. I don't mean by name calling, but please help me understand by stating some facts. You know, you could really do a lot of good for this community by being part of the solution, instead sitting back and complaining. I would just like to open up a dialog and find out WHY you are so hateful? (please remember, there are so many FEDERAL regulations that HE is not responsible for...I am talking about why you're complaining about what HE'S done) Can you help me understand?

Anonymous said...

I would say the reason why people are slamming the Gov Daniels is cause they cannot get past the democrat propaganda about the toll road, privatizing some govt services, and so on.

Why wouldnt we lease the toll road for more money than what its worth. As for the jobs it evidentally eliminated... The toll road is far better with open tolling than having someone stand their, having traffic back up, or having all those toll maintenance workers sitting in the stops drinking coffee. Like it or not, he is the Governor.

To Just out of curiosity
Here are a few reason I don't trust him. He stated all these new jobs but where not here (SISCO) just for starters . We have close to the highest unemployment in the nation. Of the new companies that did come , how much did it cost us in incentives $$$$$$$ . Our schools are forced to cut teachers ,our student scores close to lowest in nation , our graduation rates are low, .Sales taxex are up 1% preperty taxes are up food prices up fuel cost up . The list can go on and on . Yes he has done a few good things but at what cost. Try calling the Liciense Dept locally you can't. Try calling the State offices no answer Monday or Fridays depending on which dept you call (staff reductions) Yes he is spending less money but the services that were provided are no longer there. Good or bad is for each to decide. So get of you bank wagon, he is not the nest savyor. He is just a little man with a very large ego.

Anonymous said...

To Anonymous about the Gov, Sisco, etc. You say, "We have close to the highest unemployment in the nation." Here are the stats from the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
24 TEXAS 8.0
25 INDIANA 8.2
26 LOUISIANA 8.3
27 OHIO 8.6
So, the truth is that we are not even close to having the highest unemployment. That is Nevada at 12.1. Appology from you for giving false information? I doubt it. Here is your next to last sentence,
"So get of [off] you [your] bank [band] wagon, he is not the nest [next] savyor [savior]." Your sentence contains 12 words and 5 of them are wrong. I'm not nitpicking, and you are entitled to your opinions (some of which I agree with) but if you are going to spout off like some holier than thou expert in such matters then you gotta be ready for just deserved criticism. I googled your word "savyor" and all I get is "Sav-Yor" Plumbing out of Osceola. I have to agree with you. The Governor doesn't work at Sav-Yor Plumbing. I don't think the previous blogger is on a "bank wagon." Its ironic that you want to criticize our educational system. Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black.

Anonymous said...

So...it is the governor's fault that the federal government has impacted our economy to the point that Sysco decided not to come to Hamlet right now? I'm not sure how much the governor was involved in recruiting them, but I don't think it is his fault that they are not currently here. Many of those jobs would not have gone to Starke County residents anyway...most folks here don't really WANT to work.

Our schools sucked before he was ever in office and if they want to improve education, maybe they should focus on education...not making sports or other activities more important than education. Our student scores and graduation rates weren't good before, and if funds being cut are such an issue that it is impacting education, why is the local school system spending so much on a concession stand? Or on improving the school pool? Is that essential to the education of our children?

I am pretty sure the governor does not have total control over all taxes and he certainly does not control fuel prices but he has had to do what is needed to keep the state operating on a balanced budget.

I, personally, like dealing with the BMV online much better than in person since I usually walked out of that office cussing due to the fact that nobody there ever seemed to know what they were doing. I would go in to get a title transferred into my name or something simple and would be told I was missing some document, etc. I would go and get everything they said I needed and go back...getting a different girl working in there, and be told I didn't really need that! Inefficiency...that is what was dealt with there every time I went. So far, renewing plates, applying for lost titles, etc. has been very easy to do online and documents are sent in a very timely fashion...and I didn't have to drive there and use any gas.

He has made some cuts to social programs, etc. I think that has been a good thing. Now, if they could just start doing random drug screening on people who receive any type of assistance, that would be another step in the right direction.

We all need to tighten our budgets just like the state has had to. Live within your means and ask yourself when shopping if what you are buying is something you "want" or something you "need". If it is a "want" and you can't really afford it, then don't buy it.

As of May 2011 Indiana is at #26 with 8.2%. Lowest is 3.2 and highest is 12.1. Good job Mitch. Go to Illinois or Michigan and see what you get. Starke may be low, but that's life.

when china starts slowing down then we will really feel it here, prices will go up on all products, wages if you have a job will go down. this will cause a bottom, which will be good long term, then we will finally start building our own stuff here. just buid it here, prices will adjust to the fair market price, the bad part is it will take 20 yrs with governments help, about 7-10 without government help. but what to i know, we were calling politicians crooks in the 40's, the more things change the more they stay the same. term limits on ALL eleced officals is the only cure.

So then Mitch is Bazaro Robin Hood. He robs from the poor to give to the rich.

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure I live in the same Indiana as some of the people who are writing on this site!!!! Try reading the South Bend Tribune and see some of the comments about good ole Mitch. He may be saving the state money, but at what or who's expense?? How about education? I go with the saying "ditch Mitch"!!!!!!!!!!!

all we need in indiana is to raise sales tax to 11%, raise all tax rates including corporate tax rate by 22%, and put a wheel tax on every car of $500 plus the regular plate fee. and there was some other taxes that i dont remember, i read this report standing in the indiana state house back in the spring it was prepared by a accounting firm in indy, dont know if it was a republican or democrat report. but bottom line was it would take this to have a balanced budject, oh home property tax was in there too, the 1% cap would go to 4%. it didnt mention how many jobs would be lost, or homes repoed or people would move back to ILL or other states. if you dont want cuts in every thing, schools, welfare, and all state funded programs, this is all it would take. just raise taxes

The South Bend Tribune and most other sources of media print what they want to print...propaganda for the most part.

@ the person who wrote "So then Mitch is Bazaro Robin Hood. He robs from the poor to give to the rich."
Uh....what? That comment makes NO SENSE at all...do you have any idea of what capitalism is? I am glad I still live in a nation where, IF you work hard and have the 'smarts' to prosper and get ahead, you can still do that. I am glad I live in a nation that, at least for the time being, if someone wants to start up a business, hire others, maybe produce a product and earn a decent living, he can do that. If you want to sit back and comnplain, you can do that, too. If you want to blame someone else for your laziness, lack of schooling, whatever you want to blame your failure on, you still have that right, too. Geeze, get with the program and figure things out. Another blogger pointed out that the SB Tribute is a huge source of propaganda...that is an understatement. If everyone would work hard and stop waiting for someone to take care of them, then our society would depend less and less on the government (that is socialism, by the way) and then YOU would not have this 'entitlement idea' in your head. Nobody owes YOU anything. Get off your butt and figure it out. Use the brain God gave you, and make the most out of your life. You owe it to yourself and your famly.
By the way, I pay plenty of taxes so that lots of people don't have to...I am NOT RICH, but I do work hard. I am penalized for that.

Oh, yeah...keep throwing money into the 'education system'...IF that's what you want to call it...that will take care of everything. The teachers union is so big and powerful, (they demand mandetory dues so they can keep giving to the demo-rat party, soley to keep them in office...and they have NO INTEREST in the education of your kids, people) it is in it to take care of TEACHERS, and it has nothing to do with actual EDUCATION any more. If I had school aged kids now, I would either home school or find a charter school...just to get away from the union and government controlled school system.

fyi, Sisco will be meeting with 2 major contractors in South Bend this week. How do I know this? My son is with one of the companies. So, like any good business person & company, when they purchased the property they had no idea the economy was going to tank like it did. So why build a business knowing you are going to lose money and not prosper? I realize everyones hopes where so high for new business bringing new jobs, but with the delay it could also mean they will be able to stay, and not close, and be a stable force in the community. Patience is a virtue that we all should practice. Edify not crucify!!

Unions dues aren't mandatory. If you don't want to be in the union you don't have too. Just another person blaming the schools because they have stupid children. As was previously stated it is always someone else's fault. I have and idea. Instead of spade and neutering our pets, we should do that to all of the lazy and pathetic people in the Starke County.

Anonymous said...

Maybe we should start with the person with "and idea" when it comes to spaying an neutering. If you are going to call people stupid at least proofread your own statements. Having grown up in a union household I have seen the positives and negatives of the unions There was a time that unions were important to protect the rights of the workers around this great country, that time has passed. Teachers, nurses, firefighters, pipefitters, etc. should not be able to do as they please and have the union say you can't touch them they are union members. If they cannot keep their jobs on their own merit then they don't deserve to keep it. I don't want my children taught by someone who is marking time until they can retire, but it happens. If the teacher is substandard then the schools should be able to get rid of them. It's not always that the teachers have to teach "stupid" children sometimes it is quite honestly that the teacher is incompetent. No one is perfect but as there are those who shouldn't work in the medical field there are those who shouldn't work in the education field.

Wow June 27th,2011 4:00am. You read so much into one little comment. What do you mean by "smarts"? Does that mean the ability to lie, cheat, and steal your way to the top? Also maybe the SB Tribune is propaganda. However, you are silly if you don't think Mitch has his own spin doctors. It just depends on which Kool-Aid jug your drinking from. By the way I get no Gov't assistance. I have no entitlement idea in my head.I don't sit around whining about what I have or don't have.Ohh,I pay taxes too. I will however, call a spade a spade. The Bazaro comment makes no sense to you because it is a joke, you seem as if you have no sense of humor. Is it because you are angry that you can't get on welfare?

Anonymous said...

Now that there appears to be a new phone app for people in prison does that mean that the prisoners will each have their own phones to make call with. Are we the taxpayers footing the phone bills?

June 27th, 2:18 p.m. 'having 'smarts' means learning as you grow your busnines...having the ability and the patience to stay with your struggling company and figuring out how to maintain and help it grow so you can hire a few people...you know, people who have families and need a job. I have dealt with local, state and Federal governments and have had to go to bat on several ocassions not only for the good of my company (I am never going to wealthy, have never had a desire to be on welfare, I still live paycheck to paycheck like a lot of Americans...and have never gone hungry) I have a product that people need, I offer it at a fair price, and Mitch Daniels has nothing to do with anything I do. The Bizzaro statement makes no sense because it makes no sense...and guess what? I responded to the original post from the person asking for help in understanding the mentality of people who dislike others in a civil manner, and you helped to rest my case...I think the angry one is you.

my next door neighbors brother in law knows a man who met a man that was at the top secret cysco meeting and they had crispy cream donuts, the meeting was stopped because the donuts were bad. should have had the meeting in knox, fingerhut never lets me down.

For Anonymous who said, "Unions dues aren't mandatory" you have obviously never worked for a company that is all union employed. I worked at a job that did require me to join the union if I wanted the job. That was a requirement of being hired. So, even though union dues are not mandatory, they have ways of making you join whether you want to or not.

Anonymous said...

The original post about unions referred to the education system and, specifically, teachers unions. It is not mandatory to join the union or pay union dues to hold a teaching position.

Anonymous said...

I have no problem with parents choosing to home school their children or send them to a charter school, but if you think that gets you away from governmental control of education, you better go read about those alternatives on the Indiana DOE website.

Sysco is coming, Sysco is coming!!!! No really, Sysco is getting ready to start for real this time.

/what are you dreaming Sysco is not coming here as most of the people in the county don't want to work. I think the site would be perfect for the new county jail

Can some one explain why gas jumped 20 cents in an hour? what did they do drop it for 20 minutes?

Well, I knew gas prices weren't going to last...it is the holiday weekend, after all! There's the excuse this time....here we go again.

I see Mitch says the money is all gone from the toll road lease(except what's been put aside for new road construction). There you go. That's your boy. That report came out of South Bend though,so it was probably made up propaganda.Hahaha. I thought with all of his budget moves we would have some of it left. What did it all get spent on hotel rooms for Democrats? ahhahahahahah

June 28th 12:29pm The Bazaro comment makes no sense to you cause it is a joke that must be over your head. Some people don't like Daniels because he comes across as a bully. I don't care about him either way, but I do like telling jokes about him. How many Mitch Daniels does it take to screw in a lightbulb......nevermind you wouldn't get that one either. You must be the one who is angry. Look how anger has affected your spelling. Look how you can't finish a thought before you move to something else.Look how you accuse people of all these things for telling one little joke. If you want to understand the mentality of people who dislike others, just look in a mirror. You have anger issues.

I feel that fireworks within city limits should NOT be allowed. I am tired of finding them on my roof, cars and in my yard. They might go up in your yard but they will come down in someone elses. The knox city ordinance is not really an ordidnance at all when you have till 11pm to set off fireworks. Some people have to work the next day. I understand its July 4th, but my experience with neighbors and their fireworks has gone on since April. Its too dangerous....

Anonymous said...

Back to the horse riding in city limits...just wondering how the horses get inside the baseball fields...jump them? I think someone is lying..there's been NO horses on the fields!

i.e. "Bazaro 'joke'" - Sorry, my dear...you are way off. (the poor pay NO taxes, the so called 'wealthy', whomever THEY are, pay MOST of them, along with the small business owner...that's why the "joke" makes no sense)I am actually one of the happy ones in Starke County...you saw no b******g or complaining in my posts...just questions and a few facts. I am working, I am 'holding my own', and I am paying the wages of 10 other men who are trying to support their families...locally, I might add. (and, yes...I am proud of this) And like June 24 @6:26 a.m. I must admit that I was also curious about the mentality of our locals. The original post, I believe, was asking why people don't like Mitch Daniels' policies, even though he's held the state up, when most states are going bankrupt...he tuned it into one of the ONLY states that is NOT in the red. (what does coming across as a 'bully' have to do with that?)
Don't know where you get 'anger' out of that...lol! (or accusations...just stated a few facts, my friend...didn't think I accused you of anything but having a little anger issue, and that point has been proven in your remarks)
A 'lightbulb' joke? lol...yeah, I am over the age of 17, so I might not get the kiddie humor...sorry 'bout that, but I live in the real world...and that's NOT Bizarro World, either. BTW - it is bizarro, not bizaro...hahah!) Oh, just a little joke that might have gone over your head.

In reading some of the comments here, I would like to add to the one who talked about having a little 'smarts'. In my view, you are 100% correct. And, having 'smarts' really means, having the knowledge to change directions in your business, if you have to, jut to keep it afloat. I sure don't think we should penalize big business...they all had to start somewhere, mostly by one little guy putting out his own money to get started. This is still the Land of Opportunity, and if someone does have the 'smarts' to prosper and grow, and continue growing, and continue to hire people, and continue to stay in business, then they have EARNED the right to have a little more than someone who is happy not to take the route he did, but that is happy just work for someone else. It's what makes the world go 'round. It's so wrong to penalize someone for having the courage to keep in business, even when they might have lost money before they actually made any. For them to take on most of the burden of tax paying is just wong. It's like penalizing them for being successful. They are not greedy, they have worked hard to EARN every dime. Not to mention what they've provided for countless families who depend on them for a job. I used to vote Democrat, but after the stunt they pulled this winter, in taking off and staying AWOL for so long, I lost all respect, and started looking at history. I spent a lot of time at the library this winter and spring, and read a lot. I now know the major differences between Dems and Rep., and I will never vote for another Democrat as long as I live...and I am one of those who used to 'use' the system (and vote Democrat just for the social programs)...never again. I am surprisesd at the ridicule on here from some people who talk a lot but say nothing. For the guy who has a small business in our county, good for you...the guy who's ripping you apart and calling you angry has obviously no clue...for all he knows, maybe one of his family members works for you!

The 4 H fair was good but the people running the cadets show was a joke they let people win when they should not have there was alot better showing by kids and dogs but they put the trainer child in first place because they ran it and they knew the judges i seen kids that did alot better then her child did i think if they run the show they should not have family and friends to judge it.
