I was up for a stroll in the park. Looks like they blocked off the sledding part so someone could ride 4-wheelers up there and destroy the landscape.

Wait........it's up to the taxpayers to either pay for the kids entertainment, or their court appearances, is that the only choices here??? Where do the parents figure in here? This entitlement society we have bred has got to have boundries!! I for one am tired of not being able "to do enough for some people"!!

I have for some time been following news that is reported concerning Sharia and the slithering threat of radical Islam. Seems most folks want to turn a blind eye and hope it will disappear. That ain’t gonna happen.

A cursory review of what is happening in Europe and the Scandinavian countries should send chills down your spine, especially some of the not so peaceful Islamic demonstrations with their chants, slogans and signs. Where is the Christian outrage over their affront to Christianity?

They have openly declared war on Western society with little resistance. The war on terror is akin to the war on drugs in that neither is realistically focused on achieving victory. The Byzantine Empire fell under Islam as we will unless drastic measures are implemented.

It seems clear to me that Islam has and always will be violent as evidenced by the Crusades and what is happening in the world today. You must fight fire with fire. The shackles of political correctness and our own government are killing us and our way of life.

Anonymous said...

Toto Tom, I do not believe anything was block off in the park to allow for the use of “4-wheelers”, you may want to check your facts. The park staff and the park board work very hard, with the budget that is available, to make the park the best is can be for everyone. If you want to have a voice in the matter you need to get more involved. All the meeting times and dates are listed on the city’s website at www.cityofknox.net.

I agree, Muslim traditions should be banned from ALL US Courts. We have OUR OWN LAWS. Made me sick to see Discovery channel has a new show coming out soon called "American Muslim", with the C in American being the Islamic Crescent Moon & Star. Totally anti-Christian & will let Discovery/History Channelss know my displeasure.

I also feel a community bands together in helping raise it's youth. With so many broken families, many kids have no role models, or anywhere to turn. We are in dire need of a Real Community Center, yes, with the indoor basketball courts(for our kids have nowhere to play in wintertime), a gym, a Community Pool(instead of the river), & it would serve ALL AGES. It would be non-profit, I know we can attain much in grants, we seem to have alot of $ wasted/lost through political offices, and it would have a low membership rate. The whole block on corner of Lake & 35 would be awesome,as it would also help in beautifying & bringing life back to the downtown area. It would totally change the mentality of our community.

I don't believe that the sledding was blocked off to ride 4-wheelers either. But you can see the tracks where someone did. They also tore through the girls softball field below, two nice big ruts through the infield. I think the park staff does a good job, and they don't need stuff like this going on.

Got news for you 10/31 4:30am. You are already paying for both of those things if you pay taxes. Get over yourself and stop hating on kids.

Anonymous said...

It was great to see all the kids/families out having fun on a beautiful Halloween evening. And we saw many more than usual homes, with their lights on, out giving treats. Just nice to see so many people in Knox with smiles on their face, hoping to contribute to the joys of being a kid. I will never lose faith or love for my hometown of Knox. That said, we really do need a Community Center to serve the needs of all ages, to raise the morale, pride, character & health of our community. Praying it happens someday :)

Anonymous said...

I'm just thinking, Mary David, maybe, just maybe, it's time for parents to get over themselves and provide some guidance and time for their children. This thing about "taking a village to raise a child" has been taken way out of context! It should not be a responsibility for taxpayer to provide for the fruits of some peoples entertainment! And thus endth the lesson for today!

Rod Weigel said...

This may be trivial but when I post it posts as “Rod said:” Should that not be “Rod wrote:”?

Mary David said...

I'm just thinking,Anonymous, maybe, just maybe not all parents are looking for tax payers to "entertain" their kids and don't want the village to raise them cause there are a few too many village idiots in said village. Thanks for the stereotyping of families though. Ohh by the way if your so worried about your tax dollars going towards kids, maybe we can take up a collection and get you your 5 bucks back. You should be more worried about all your tax money that's going to bail out banks, fund Wall Street, and fund foreign governments. I fear your anger towards children has caused you to miss the big picture.

Anonymous said...

anyone else notice how the trafic flows better around the knox schools of a morning. thanks george bush. (he gets blamed for everything that he has nothing to do with so just thanking him for something he has nothing to do with)

Anonymous said...

Sorry but if you pay taxes you more than likely are already paying for the fruits of someone elses entertainment. I would rather it be spent on Starke County kids than some bailing out some fat cat CEO. Before you try to hand out lessons, you should first learn a few.

Anonymous said...

Sorry you misunderstood my comments Mary David, I harbor no anger towards children of any age. Not so with entitlements, that is where the problems lie!

For all of you that complain that something needs to be done in downtown Knox (or Knox in general), you better show up at the community center tonight. If you want to do something, now is a good time to do it. Let's see your face tonight at 5.

I want to challenge Ron and Anonymous to do some research into Islam. I want to challenge Ron and Anonymous to give even just one example of "islamic law" that is being voted into law in the United States.

It is unfortunate that people will continue to spew propaganda and not really look into the issues at hand. Islam is no more or less violent than Christianity. Have you read the story about Lot and his surviving daughters? The idea of insest is very common in the bible among many other violent things.

Please before putting something on a message board, keep your racist statements at the door. It makes WVKI look bad and makes the Starke County Community look bad too.

Rod Weigel said...

Anonymous, you gotta love that.

Challenge? OoooKaaay

Google sharia or Islamic aggression and there are more examples than I care to count. You might also Google Newt Gingrich on Sharia; he has a good understanding of what’s at stake here.

Further,I do my research before I post, it would serve you well to do the same. One last thing. Leave your name calling at the door.

Yesterday, ABC News produced a story about a New Jersey Family Court judge who, in 2010, cited Sharia or Islamic law in refusing to grant a Muslim woman a restraining order against her ex-husband. Last month, a Florida appeals court upheld a lower court decision that litigants should settle differences by Sharia law in their own community instead of bringing them to court.
Since the 2010 NJ case, several states, including Indiana, have introduced laws banning Sharia.
There is not one, but two examples from a mainstream news source (not some wacko internet site) of U.S. courts basing recent decisions on something other than our traditional law. I believe if I looked further, I could find more.

Karlie said...

@ Rod Weigel. You need to do a little more research on the Crusades if you think that the Islamic people who were violent. While I am no proud to say it the Christian warriors were just as violent and did some cruel and unspeakable things. If you are using the Crusades as "evidence" of current violence and unjust what does that say about the Christians of this country? I'm a Christian and proud, but am I proud of all the things done in the name of Christianity - NO. I'm sure that most of the people who practice Islam feel the same. You're statements are ignorant. Oh, and your statement "They have openly declared war on Western society with little resistance." - tell that to our men and women overseas.

@Anonymous 10/31 10:32 - You state
"Totally anti-Christian & will let Discovery/History Channelss know my displeasure" Please tell me when the U.S. began a Christian only nation? I was under the impression that freedom of religion and from religious persecution was part of OUR LAWS (as you like to put it). As I said, I am a Christian. Would I like to see everyone believe in Jesus as our Savior and worship God. Yes, will this ever happen? No, even the bible tells you that.

I agree with everything that Anonymous on 11/2 9:05 said and I await the answers to the question he/she posed.

Rod Weigel said...

Karlie, You may want to reconsider your choice of adjectives.

The Muslims were the aggressors during the crusades just as they are today. In their view there is no room for anything but Islam.

Google and watch these two news clips/documentaries it may give you some understanding of what you are attempting to write about. The first is from CBN News and the second is a compilation of interviews with moderate Muslims and Muslims who have converted to Christianity.

Suggest a reading of the Consitution, the law of the land, which doesn't recognize any law but itself. Under our Constitution, there are no separate communities, only Americans, and judges and courts that overstep their bounds suggesting sharia law for muslim communities should be removed. Or brought before a congressional committee, as suggested by Newt Gingrich, and made to explain just why they felt changing the Constitution, without amendment, was in the best interest of this country or within their power.

The meeting about downtown knox, Here is legitimate proof that they do not have a clue- Greg Matt wants to create ordinances and force the building owners into action. Is that right? So does that mean we are going to create some more rules, fines, and penalties? Do those really help? If they do, then tell us where they have? Look at how neighborhoods are revitalized. Help clean up one or two, and others will follow. As for those that do remodel and update, you can give them a tax rebate percentage in lieu of the work they have done. What is even more ridiculous is that no one steps up and promotes the downtown.

Anonymous said...

1st. It boggles my mind that ANY woman would support Sharia Law. You better do your research. Christ teaches to love your enemy, Islam teaches to cut off your enemy's head.

2nd. Had a bad cold, missed the meeting. Instead of "mandating" & ordinances, we need to do something downtown that will "motivate" building owners to set new standards. We need a "center-piece" that brings people downtown daily.

I think that alot of people think that Knox is all of Starke Co. Wrong. When they talk about doing things for the kids they always talk about Knox.Having been around the young of Starke County I think that corporal punishment should be reinstated in the school systems. These kids have no respect for adults, one another or personal property of others. We want the parents to discipline their kids then tie their hands so they can't. Come on people these kids are our next generation and it scares me to death.

Anonymous said...

When I attended school, elementary through high school, each day began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord’s Prayer. Corporal punishment was alive and well and even the bad boys didn’t get out of line while in school. Back then the USA had public school systems that ranked as some of the best in the world.

How have we let public schools come to where they are today? My guess would be the same root cause as most of the problems our country faces today. Anyone want to hazard a guess?

Anonymous said...

I will hazard a guess.. It started with the tradition of blaming something or someone else. Taking the pledge away, worrying about that nativity scene offending someone...

Pat said...

You are 100% CORRECT. When they took the Bible out of our schools in 1962-63, our society began it's degredation. Discipline, respect, work ethic, pride are rare qualities. I respect the paddlings i got,...because I deserved them, & I'm better for it. back then, nearly everyone went to church, businesses were closed on Sunday, etc. We have compromised our honor, integrity & morale fiber to what it's become today. Now everyone depends on the Gov't to fix everything...& THEY CAN'T. But they'll keep trying until we have no choice but to sink...or turn back to God.

Rod Weigel said...

Amen to that, Pat. What is it going to take to get back on the right track? Perhaps it's too late.

We have let happen what the founding fathers tried to prevent by writing the constitution and subsequently the bill of rights.

A wise man once said that once freedom is lost it is lost forever. Our current administration is rapidly leading us down the path to socialism and maybe even Sharia, very few get it or maybe they just don't care.

Back then we still enjoyed freedom as in the government did not dictate to the degree it does today and also it was rightfully looked down upon to have the government support one.

Where is a good leader in times like these? I believe he has always been there, quietly waiting in the wings, maybe even lightly knocking on the door but we have all been too busy or distracted to see or hear.

Anonymous said...

You got it right, Rod, when you wrote "very few get it or maybe they just don't care". The public apathy is an epidemic in this nation. People don't care unless it's involves them directly, like removing their TVs or cars. That would provoke them to action. The good leader you seek is inside of each of us! Together, taking action, anything can be accomplished! Let's not leave it to the unconscionable attorneys and arrogant rich businessmen/women in Washington, let's do it ourselves!

FYI

In 1892, the Supreme Court of the United States declared, "This is a Christian nation."

During the War for Independence, Congress resolved to import 20,000 volumes of the Bible because "the use of the Bible is so universal, and its importance so great."

The New England Confederation stated that the purpose of the colonies was "to advance the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ and to enjoy the liberties of the gospel in purity with peace."

Harvard College required that each student believe that "the main end of his life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life."

John Adams wrotea, "The Christian religion is...the Religion of Wisdom, Virtue, Equity, and humanity."

Engraved on the metal cap on the top of the Washington Monument are the words "Praise be to God."
Christianity is written on every page of America's amazing history

According to Fast Company magazine recent polls from the School of Public Affairs at Baruch College, Occupy Wall Street is a predominantly white movement.

81.2 percent white, 6.8 percent Hispanic, 2.8 percent Asian, and 1.6 percent black. Another 7.6 percent chose 'other.

Is this is what homogeneity looks like? That is what the promoters of OWS are trying to sell us.

Elected officials are not under the nepostism rule because the people elect them they do not hire them.

Society now is better than ever in the history of civilization. Despite what you see on the news, there are fewer people dying as a result of war, fewer people dying of diseases and sickness. In teh 1960s, African-Americans couldn't realistically vote in this country. Riots were commonplace and racism rampant. Though racism continues to exist, the fact that we can elect, freely people other than "White Anglo-Saxon Protestants" is short of amazing and shows just how far society has come since what you call the days when the "took the bible out of our schools".

Quite frankly, I am shocked at the amount of racism and lack of common research that exists in this community. The 1892 supreme court case you mentioned, Anonymous? If you would read the actual quote, it suggests something different. Even the Justice that wrote it, Justice Brewer, a few years later wrote that what he meant by the sentance was not that the country is Christian, but based upon Christian philosophy; something inherantly different. If you read the constitution, and the hundreds of Supreme Court Cases since, you would clearly see a seperation of church and state and that Christianity was never, was not to be, nor ever to the basis of law. That is the same exact thing as Sharia law. Law based upon religion, whether it is by islamist extremists or christian dominionists.

Anonymous said...

I know of one town in particular that was subject to one family ruling the roost. It didn't turn out very well. It's all over now isn't it?

Kudos to the Starke Co. commissioners for their nepotism resolution!!! Now, if the Knox School system would follow suit, it would be great day in good old Starke County!!!

Yes, Holy Trinity vs. United States

No one could misconstrue that a statement, even though stated in passing, could consume fully half of the Court's opinion without meaning.

Evidence clearly shows that a correct understanding is that the Christian history is the basis of rationale undergirding the case.

In this case the US Supreme Court is saying that an immigration statute, ought not to be applied against a church hiring a pastor because "this is a Christian nation." The history of this nation is thus not merely an "off hand" digression from the substance of the case, but is the very basis for the holding.

No Secular Humanist ever known, has ever cited any legal authority whatsoever, to support the claim that the Christian history in Holy Trinity is irrelevant to the holding of the case or any other.

what about the bridge on 500 south just of range road, where the twin bridges are, it has been closed for a year now, big piles of dirt with 4 wheeler tracks over it. thats it, why isnt the county fixing it, not enough farmers complaining about it? come on, a year and no work,

Anonymous said...

I am actually fine with 500 South being blocked off. That is a dangerous intersection and people do not follow the speed limit on Range Road (or Toto Road for that matter). It is not necessary for cars and trucks to go 50 MPH on those roads. I've even seen the school buses failing to slow down by the bridge per the posted 35 MPH sign. At least with 500South blocked, there are not crosstraffic accidents.

I recently moved back to Knox in January and I'm a bit disappointed when I take a look around. A few of the store owners in downtown Knox sweep and clean their sidewalks and windows and it looks nice. But other places in the downtown area have allot to be desired. Near the 'Club' areas on the sidewalks and in the streets you will find beer bottles, trash, leaves, & dirt. Recently I swept one of the sidewalks over by highway 35 because it so trashy. I placed the trash in the street for the city street cleaner...that trash laid there for 2 weeks before it was picked up. hmm...am I paying taxes for the employment of county/city workers? Ok next, our town also has large stone planters which went unattended all summer...someone finally planted Mums in them for the Fall. The Mums were a very nice touch but whoever is responsible for the maintenance of those planters definitely needs to step it up a little bit. Also, the green benches sitting at the court house for the last 40 years (that I know of) certainly could use some work, maybe a little touch up huh, or even replaced. One final observation, just because a building is empty in downtown it doesn't mean it has to look nearly condemned, right? Can we do something about that? Then ending with a couple of questions. Is there any funding available to fix the broken curbs, trim the bottoms of trees on public property, sweep sidewalks and streets? And, are we hanging Christmas lights this year for the kids? Thank you WKVI, its nice to have a place that gives the people an opportunity to have a voice.

If the benches have been around a great deal longer than 40 years, do you not think that they are almost wore out? I know that they must be at least 50. Restore something that old to perfect condition?
Yes the streets are in need of more attentive attention. The planters up town there is no excuse for keeping them up. Look at Laporte planters.

Randy said...

Do our "elected" officials really think we, the VOTERS, are so stupid that we cannot see what is really going on in the North Judson election ??? Let's review..... She lost by 4 votes. A week AFTER votes have been counted and the board favorite loses, 4 "questionable" and mysterious votes pop up and could "tie" the election if not change the results. Now we are told about deadlines and showing ID's. Were we not mandated to show an ID when we voted ??? So how can that be a factor ?? I would have more respect if they came out and told the truth... That the person they wanted to win lost, so they are going to change the results in their favor. At least then they would not be treating us like total country morons. Or here is a thought... KEEP IT HONEST. Let the person that WON do their duties. How else are things in this town going to change if you keep letting the very people that has held it down for so long stay. Especially by manipulating the system. But I guess this is just small town politics at it's best.

As to the provisional ballots given out in the North Judson/Knox races on election day, if you have ever worked the polls you would know that a person can cast a provisional ballot if they meet certain requirements. And after the election they have so much time to go to the clerks office to prove that those ballots should be counted, they must verify those ballots before they can be counted. If you believe that there has been fraud committed then you need to go to the state and file your complaint, but if those ballots are valid they should be counted.

Anonymous said...

I have ALWAYS had to show my I.D. when I vote. Not that I live in North Judson(Knox actually), but I do have to commend the lady that "lost?", because it's very obvious she has done alot for that community, from decreasing the budget, the new firehouse & so on. So, regardless the outcome, she is due your appreciation for her contributions & accomplishments for North Judson.

Anonymous said...

I just read the story about replacing the County Treasurer and am confused about the requirement that the candidate reside in District 2. Isn't this a county office? Why must the interested candidates therefore reside in District 2? It would seem that ANY resident of Starke County who is interested should be able to file for candidacy.

Where do people REALLY get this stuff??? said...

In response to "Randy" - First of all, before you go around wagging your tongue about something you think you're an expert on, you should get your facts straight, or at the very least educate yourself on the subject. As someone pointed out below your post, provisional votes are completely legal, and not at all uncommon. Just because the "board favorite" (as you referred to her) lost by 4 votes and there were also 4 provisional votes, it doesn't mean a thing! Those 4 SEALED provisional ballots were turned in to the Starke County Clerk, who also happens to be the "winner's" SISTER, right after the polls closed, so everyone has known about them ALL ALONG! Sorry to burst your big conspiracy theory bubble, but they've never been a secret and definitely did not just mysteriously appear a week later. Also, I personally asked the current Clerk if she was going to ask for a recount and she told me NO!! (That's not to say that the Democrat Party won't ask for one, but I can assure you, if they do, it WON'T be another big conspiracy, and the "board favorite" will not be the one who asked for it!!) Soooo, it looks like the only problem North Judson has right now is that there are morons talking about things that they obviously know NOTHING about! Sorry "Randy", but this not only makes you look stupid, but it also disrespects the person who was defeated and is being accused of fraud, as well as the person who won because it implies that her victory could be taken away and her own SISTER would be in on it!! So PLEASE, get a life and don't feel the need to share anymore of your worthless information with us. Oh, and here's a thought....show some respect for BOTH of the ladies. If you know ANYTHING about public service, or an election, (which you obviously DON'T) God knows they BOTH deserve some respect!!

Anonymous said...

To Randy If you voted and didn't show id (which is required by Indiana law) you voted illegaly so who's wrong now. YOU

Anonymous said...

Wow, this is an angry group! A provisional ballot is intended to avoid denying an eligible voter his/her right to vote. If a person forgets to bring I.D., if a registered voter's name is inadvertently left off the voter list, or if a voter's name is misspelled on the list, they are allowed to cast a provisional ballot. The voter is then given time to verify their eligibility to vote, and the provisional votes are generally counted 7-10 days after the election.

As someone posted, you might know this if you have worked an election, but for those of us who have not been in that position because our work schedule prevents us from volunteering, it would have been nice if the article had explained the process.

Mathew said...

Wow, instead of giving facts correctly and moving on..you "anonymous" responders feel the need to insult and degrade people that speak an opinion. I read Randy's post. And although he clearly points out concerns that are on MANY North Judson minds, he does not insuilt either of the two ladies involved. He mentions "elected officials" in general. So the only clear and spoken disrespect is in your response. You turned a popular topic into a personal attack. One of the main reasons that the election process is kept honest and beyond reproach, in most cases, is that there are thinking people like Randy in the communities that will present opinions when issues arise. None of his statements are beyond the realm of what COULD BE POSSIBLE, especially in such a small community. I applaud Randy's willingness to state his opinion WITHOUT mane calling, as you seemed necessary, and not indication anyone DIRECTLY causing the POSSIBLE issue.
As to the response concerning the showing of his ID. I believe he indicated that he was required to show his ID at the time of election.

BRAVO Randy. Something is just not right about this whole thing. Let's hope that this can be settled without getting more questionable.
Oh, and to "Where do prople REALLY get this stuff".... look up the word respect. And when you throw around insults like that, YOU are the one that ends up looking stupid. YOu can make a opinion without getting insulting and DISRESPECTFUL. Take lessons from his post..

Sorry Randy, the only person treating you as a country moron is you.Ever hear that it is better to keep ones mouth shut and let people think your stupid than open it and prove you are

As far as the whole "respect" argument - anytime someone is accused of doing something illegal, I would say it's disrespectful. So whether Randy flat out called anyone names or not, the implication and insult was still there and that's what got feathers ruffled. As far as applauding Randy for "thinking" and raising issues that are on "MANY" North Judson minds - I've read his post several times and really don't see much thought in it at all. It honestly sounds to me like the ramblings of someone who is just trying to spark some interest on the discussion board or start a big time over nothing.

The bashing of the two candidates in the town election that was only 4 votes apart. I have known these two women since they were little girls and I am sadden that this blog has implied that they both have done something wrong. Elections have always been opposed that they have done something wrong. This is why many people do not vote. The one that lost has been a person that has done her job with the upmost of running her office with dignity and pride. The one that won is a lady of good standing in the community. Please give them the respect that they deserve.

I thought this discussion board was here to let people vent. Some people feel the need to start picking on those who express their opinion. I think we all need to vent without tearing others to shreds!!!! Each opinion is just as important as the other. As for the Judson election, it is just politics as usual.

The trees downtown Knox seriously need trimmed. We own a business and you can't see our sign because of the trees. We asked them to trim off the bottom few branches and they refused. Ours isn't the only business with this problem. I understand planting trees to make the city look nice but I do not understand why you would allow them to block local businesses, especially when this problem is so easily fixed by trimming off the lower branches. We have people come in all the time saying they didn't know we were here because they can't see us past the tree branches. It literally blocks the view of our window completely from one side. Someone even said that one of the trees blocks a stop sign farther down the road as well.
Local businesses bring jobs and money to our little city. You would think the city would trim off a few branches to keep those businesses in town because if people can't see your business, that means no customers, so what is the point staying in business here.

would anyone care to guess how many businesses are on main street just between the rr tracks and the court house. i will go count them next day or so, i bet no one well be even close. i know there will be over 40.

I agree. Whenever someone speak their minds here, thare is always a loud mouth that has to get personal and start name calling. Why are you not able to have a conversation without getting insulting. As for Randy's post, I too have read it. I agree with how the entire subject SEEMS suspect. And although I do not agree with his belief, I do respect his right to voice his opinion without reprisal or the need to insult him. It is understandable why many people that have lived in this area for many years can believe that the election was and /or is being manipulated. The history of our county is littered with questionable "good ole boy politics". Much like most small communities. So relax and try to have a discussion without all the insulting and name calling.

Lets follow their example and let the election play out and show the candidates the Dignity and Respect they have shown each other. They are both tremendous role models to the community they serve.

To the person with the business that has their sign blocked by the trees...I've commented various times on here about those stop signs that are completely blocked until you are right on them. I was nearly t-boned by a driver's ed car this summer when the student driver blew right through the intersection without even slowing. The instructor appeared surprised when I blasted my horn as they zoomed past as he had also apparently not seen the sign. The instructors my son had were from Plymouth so were not familiar with Knox and I assume this instructor was also not a local person who would know there was a sign there. I'm glad those are four-way stops because at least the people in the side streets should stop and look before pulling out...as I did...or there would be a lot of accidents due to those blocked signs. Some of those trees just need cut down as they are endangering lives.

All it takes to win any election is one vote, and Mrs. Henry accomplished that fair & square. I'm at peace with the whole election process and the outcome, and am looking forward to moving on. I hope everyone else can too.

before people speak though, they should know the election process and all the work that goes into it.. people can say what they want, but these two women put their hearts and souls into this election. i'm just ashamed that people just come on this discussion board and freely say whatever junk they want to say, and half of it isn't even close to the truth at all. how would you like it if one of these women where your wife, or your sister, or your daughter, or your mother, and you get on here and see the nonsense that people say. Think before you speak people, cause even though its an open forum, some of it can be very hurtful to people.

I bet if you cut one of those trees down the rest would be trimmed shortly after.

In my view the transition of America to socialism and communism seems well on its way. The manner in which Obama conducts himself also fits into the definition of fascism.

Obama clearly sees himself in a dictatorial role. He is already suppressing opposition by taking action against nearly 800 websites that have posted negative articles about him. He is also starting to exhibit belligerent nationalism and racism as he shows favoritism to blacks, Muslims and illegal Hispanics while at the same time taking action against law abiding American citizens such as Border Patrol agent Diaz, the state of Arizona and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Has anyone else noticed?

To Ron Weigel. If you don't like it here leave. You could go to Canada and speek poorly about the Queen but they would sent you to jail. You could go to Mexico and last maybe 2 hours. Please remember we may not live in the most perfect country but in my opinion theres no better place to live free raise a family then the United States of America.
Ron I here South America countries are looking for people such as you so good by . Hope you fair well.

In response to the man who said we should cut down a tree to make them listen, lol. I totally agree. They are neglecting the tree problem and are disrupting business by an actual loss of revenue since they are blocking part of the business. I guess maybe all the businesses downtown could file a loss of revenue lawsuit to make the people in this city in charge of this problem stand up and listen. I saw the post from the other business. I too have the same problem. I also went to the city to have it resolved and I was given the run around sent to two different people then told to wait for the tree guy to decide if it would be bad for the tree to cut off the bottom limbs. I was also denied my request. I guess trees are more important to this city than local businesses. I am right now looking for a new location outside of the city where the view of my store can be seen without the obstruction of trees. I actually have two in front of my store. And a trash can that is constantly overflowing. It is totally retarded to accommodate trees at the expense of businesses. I too thought the same thing. Maybe we should just cut them down ourselves and be done with it.

Had your attitude prevailed in 1773 and subsequent years the Queen of Canada would be your Queen today.

Rod,

I don't know you but I agree with what you say in your posts here. I am pretty sure that the person with the very poor spelling (including your name and it is only three letters) must be an Obama supporter who is in fear of losing their "benefits" if someone else were elected and actually started cutting down on the programs that cost this country and the taxpayers who do work so much every day.

We don't need to run to Canada, Mexico or anywhere else. We have the right to live here in the USA where it is supposed to be a free country where you have freedom of speech and the right to speak your mind.

And, yes, I am a spelling Nazi because poor spelling, poor grammar, etc. simply show how uneducated you must be and it makes people less likely to take what you say seriously. Learn to spell and express yourself well and people will listen to you better.

On your discussion page, the question asked "projects important to you".I feel the extension of county road 150 S from US35 to county road 350 E is sorely needed. The school buses pulling out on 350 E is a traffic hazard. Going east from the bus barn to main street would alleviate this problem. Furthermore, traffic going to the business places on 35 could bypass the schools and eliminate this accident waiting to happen. Anyone else agree? The extended road would involve the Knox School Board, City of Knox, Starke Commissioners, and Center Township Trustee. Lets see what happens!!

Anonymous said...

extending 150S to run thru the knox bus garage area would hurt not help anything, it would give easier path to vandels. it would increase traffic entering 350. yes you could bypass the schools but if any wanting to go to the 5star just wait till they open at 8 and all the school traffic is gone.
just think adding a new road would create more problems than it would solve. best thing poeple could do is to follow the traffic laws dont stop in the middle of 350 and wave a school bus out, you have the right of way just go and get where your are going, most bus drivers will not go when you are waving because it is not the law, then if the bus does go you will follow them 5ft behind complaining they are too slow.

Rod Weigel you must watch fox tv and believe all of the negative things they say about our president.Try watching MSNBC in the evening The last word,The Ed show, and Rachel Maddow and you will get the real news.If congress would support some of the presidents ideas the economy would be better. With their personal and political gains in mind instead of our citizens well being he will never be able to turn around what our previous president destroyed.

Anonymous said...

This is the worst president this country has ever had. It probably doesn't matter who we vote for because I don't know how we will even survive until January 20, 2013. We shouild pay more attention to who is in charge of the Joint Chiefs because we will probably be living under Marshall Law.

How shallow is that? Actually I watch very little television but I am consumed with history.

It concerns me that so few people understand, nor do they want to as long as they are comfortable, or realize what is going on in this country. It is obvious you watch too much TV and have not been a study of anything much less history.

In the 1800’s George Santayana spoke these words “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." And again in the 1800’s Hegel remarks somewhere that history tends to repeat itself. He forgot to add: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce." One could go much further back in history to thoroughly support those claims.

When I post I do so for a reason. And that is, in my opinion, the majority of the population of the United States has not a clue about what is transpiring with respect to our freedoms that are (were) guaranteed by the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

This administration is the most nefarious that has existed to date. Last count there were 35 “czars” that have unlimited power and circumvent congress.

Folks like you are welcoming tyranny and the downfall of the greatest nation this planet has ever known.

The possibility of martial law is very real. Hypothetically, with Soros money and the tutelage of ACORN OWS will continue to grow and become more and more violent. This will give BHO and the left a reason to impose martial law and thus the ability to suspend the election.

There will be those that will waive the magic wand of conspiracy theories to try to make this idea go away however there are too many indicators to be ignored.

Anonymous said...

Hmmmm........martial law in our time........'spose it could happen, wouldn't put anything past this criminal enterprise in the white house. My question would be though, would anyone notice, would anyone care, would it be business as usual in Washington? With the APATHY shown everyday by the citizenry, who would stand up to be counted?

You may want to Google and watch this bone chilling news reel/documentary.

Although FEMA is portrayed as humanitarian the reason for its creation is much more sinister. The term Orwellian comes to mind. Their conduct in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina was not covered in mainstream media for a reason and it is frightening to know that all Law Enforcement and the National Guard is falling under their control. God help us.

Thing is, our country is broken. Not due to democratic NOR republican governments but due SOLEY on OUR IGNORRANCE . Republicans say its the Democrats and vice versa.....Its not our current predident, it is not our past president....it is our entire governing body as a whole. Because NO ONE MAN/WOMAN has any power to say "this is law". If you want to blame obama blame ALL of DC. If you want to blame GW.....blame ALL OF DC. Better yet why dont we just blame ourselves for repetedly turning a blind eye and deaf ear to being fleeced over and over by who/whatever is running the country. Its not the dems or the gop its the deep pocketed politicians as a whole. Further more...I know this will get a ton of bashing but hear this out. Why dont we stop worrying about sowing the seed of "democracy" in every 3rd world country that WE think would be better off ? Lets worry about OUR OWN homeland first ! We at one point were the "police of the world" and now we show ourselves as outside aggressors forcing OUR believes onto the rest of the world. Sound all too familiar ? As far as Afgahnastan, that Rod weigl cat hit the nail right on the head by quoting Santayana,"those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it".........anybody remember a global super-power name USSR ?????????

Anonymous said...

I do not believe that the United States is trying to force our beliefs on other countries. The statement "the countries that WE think would be better off" is rather off the mark. If you look at each situation in itself, we were not forceing anything on anyone. In each case, it was proven that these countries were living in fear and being tortured, killed, starved and forced to live in horrible conditions because of their self appointed "rulers". Even in Iraq, reguardless of the reason that we were sent there to fight, weither it be due to the oil as many are so easy to believe, or some other politically advantagous reason. The fact remains that we helped that country live better lives and be able to live more freely. AS far as Afganastan, the country we should have sent military to in the first place to find BinLaden. We are thare for one reson. To remove a terror group that effects the world with their sensless killings in the name of Allah. We are not trying to push our beliefs on them or force them into anything. We are not fighting government troops, they are beside our own troops in search of these terrorist. As far as the former USSR... after researching the records and history of our relationship with the USSR, the fact is that other than the Cuban missle crisis there is not one instance of aggression with the USSR. People like to say that the USSR could, and was planning a "suprise" missle attack on the United States. The fact is that with the defense system that is, and was in place at that time a "suprise" attack was impossible. Even a flock of low flying birds was detected on the same day that the Russian ships were stopped and sent back. Our relationship with Russia has always been portrayed in the media and movies as always on the brink of nuclear war. I believe it always been over stated simply to justify outragious spending by the government. THere is BIG mones in military actions, of any kind. Please be clear that I am not a government supporter. I served MANY years in the military and fought in three "conflicts". And your statement simply belittled the sacrafice of thousands of men and women in uniform fighting for freedom today.

Anonymous said...

C'mon bud ! All that i meant with the USSR statement is that look what 20 years of conflict with Afghanastan got..... TWO countries left in ruins. Which many believe the fall of the USSR is due mainly to thier failed military quest of Afghanastan!!!!!!! And those that cannot remember that, are condemned to repeat it. I never said russia was an aggressor of America.....THE statement was mearly a compairison to thier financial and military woes and OURS. I have family that are and have been career military and I support the troops just not the idealisms of why they are sent to certain places. As far as fighting terror ? UMMMM take a look at who all we support until thier usefullness is used up. MANY of whom we are at conflict with now. And when fighting a gueriila war we fight THE PEOPLE of that country NOT the GOVERNMENTAL ARMIES .

I know that this is not really a discussion topic, however, tonight we lost a precious member of our family, a three yr old black female lab with a pink collar.

She was last seen around 4 p.m. today and hasn't returned home. this is unusal behavior for her, since she is a family pet and a house dog.

She was near county road 1100 east and could possibly be anywhere from there to 1025 East and Divison Rd. If you have seen her or know her whereabouts please call 806-3370 her family is very concerned for her. Thanks

Another example of Sharia Law slithering in the back door

According to Conservative blogger Pamela Geller, Wendy Howze, a spokesperson for Butterball Turkey, was quoted as saying “Our whole turkeys are certified Halal.”

What does this mean? Well, short and sweet, this means that the bird was slaughtered in the name of Allah.

Butterball is catering to Muslims? I did not have Butterball for Thanksgiving nor will I for Christmas. It doesn’t seem correct to consume a bird blessed for Allah in celebration of Jesus’ birthday

Anonymous said...

I don't think eating a butterball turkey will make me wear a hijab anymore than eating kosher hotdogs will make me grow a payoss!

Rod Weigel said...

I agree with you. However, the point is Sharia Law is slowly but surely gaining momentum here in the United States and there will be a tipping point if this trend continues where you may have to wear a hijab and pray to the east.

Your reference to Kosher reminds me that both Jews and Christians worship God not Allah and there is a difference.

There is a book, a short 200 page read, titled “No We Can’t” authored by Robert Sterns that puts things into proper perspective. I think it would be good if all Christians would read it. All Christians need to be aware of the significant threat Islam holds for us.

Near Knox said...

Rod,
Are you serious? Butterball turkeys are evidence of Sharia Law taking over?

Now THAT is funny !!!

I agree with Rod, the muslim community does pose a threat with their insistance on being judged by sharia law. One only has to look at Europe to see the problem with liberal, join hands and sing the coke song timidity that allows muslim communities to be judged by sharia! There are people in this world who want what we have, and will take it from us, if we continue with our national apathy
