I wish the person who posted the comment "716 billion stolen from Medicare" would explain what they are talking about but I have A feeling they don't know what they are talking about and just heard some political advertisement by the other guy.

How was this money stolen and how do you know this?

Anybody that dedicated to his Christian Faith that gives $4+million a year in tithes to, has my vote. And definately over the Muslim in office right now. Obama doesn't even understand what being a true American means. He's been raised in Marxist views, & it totally shows in his political maneuvers. Romney actually reminds me a bit of Reagan, & I would wholeheartedly trust our country in the hands of Ryan over Biden ANY DAY. It's really a pretty easy choice, but I just think the party politics gets in the way of common sense thinking.

Wow what a bunch of morons arguing between democrats and republicans. They are strung by the same people. Keep baaaaaing away....and you'll get what you deserve

There is massive fraud and waste in Medicare (just as there will be in the new National Healthcare, if and when the Affordable Health Care Act is fully implemented). Every year, millions are lost with those who are caught going to prison. I believe $716 billion is the accepted figure for money lost from the system through various forms of cheating over time. It's probably higher still.

Anonymous said...

$716 billion was taken from the budget of Medicare to use for implementation of obamacare. This isn't speculation, this came from the mouth of himself, obama the first.

You still cant answer how $716 was stolen from Medicare and how you get your information. If the President said he has stolen $716 million dollars from Medicare when did he say this?
I think you would believe anything.
Rush probably told you. Right?

Obama used the situation Bush left to bring in his Socialist Reform....I mean "Change". If Bush had been a great President, Obama"the Great Mystery to all", would've never had a chance. So, instead, Bush started everything to line his buddies & his pockets, de-regulated banks, cause housing crisis, & God knows what else, & left the door wide open for some "great, mysterious, slick talker" that has totally reformed America. Obama's running the Gov't like nobody in history, with 37 CZARS, 100K more Gov't jobs doing God knows what, buddying up with the Muslim Botherhood, and STILL talking the same garbage he got elected on, though he's had enough practice, he doesn't need his teleprompter much anymore. I'm still shocked America elected a man named Hussein to the Presidency. What does that say about how much America cared what Saddam did in Iraq? It's all very bazaar.

You apparently cannot fathom that your beloved obama would do such a thing to the seniors in this nation. But, one more time, with the stroke of a pen, he removed $716 billion from Medicare, stating that was to pay for obamacare. Rush didn't tell me this, neither did Hannity! I would suggest a detox from the kool aid and stop watching MSNBC!

Here we go again, another gun not at fault in the hands of a mentally disturbed shooter.

Since the 2nd ammendment gives us the right to bear arms, then why can't we have anti-tank weapons, surface to air missiles and nuclear weapons? After all, it's not the weapon that kills. It's the shooter who pulls the trigger. Oh, you say our nation's founders didn't foresee such weapons.

Maybe people were just more responsible back in George Washington's day when they passed the 2nd ammendment.

The truth of the matter is the 2nd ammendment was passed to keep well armed local militias available with long guns, not concealed hand guns. You see that was before America had a professional military.

What do you think our founders would do about the problem with concealed weapons in the hands of so many mentally unstable people in this day and age?

I really don't think they would ignore the situation for fear of loosing NRA support and pass it off as every American's right, do you?

Mitt Romney's Healthcare plan does essentially the same thing as Obama's, BUTTT..it doesn't raise taxes 1 cent, nor cost any Seniors Medicare coverage. Romney is not a hardline Conservative Republican, he actually has some "middle of the stream" views, but is predominantly Rep. How could he EVER get elected Gov. in Mass., a DIEHARD Dem. State, without Dem. support? He had tremendous Dem. support! He's also has a TRACK RECORD, a history of successful achievements throughout his life AS AN AMERICAN. Obama came out've NOWHERE, NO TRACK RECORD, NO ACCOMPLISHMENTS...JUST A WHOLE LOT A SMOOTH TALKING BOLOGNA, WITH 100% ALTERIOR MOTIVES IN DESTROYING TRADITIONAL AMERICAN VALUES. Tell us, PLEASE TELL US...1 great accomplishment Obama achieved before becoming Pres.? Military Service? NOPE! 1 COMPLETE TERM IN ANY OFFICE? NOPE! He won't even release his college transcripts, because it WILL SHOW he was a foreign exchange student, thus proving he WASN'T EVEN A CITIZEN! I AM AN INDEPENDANT, NOT A DEM. or REP., but for this man to be elected to our Pres is 100% the biggest attrocity to our leadership in history, but I also feel Bush runs a close 2nd. Just look at Romney's track record, orchestrated the most successful Olympics, right after 911, in Salt Lake City, very successful Governor that cooperates with BOTH parties, reformed Mass. Healthcare w/o raising budget, created Billion $$$ companies, & just so much more. This election is not WHAT I'M GOING TO DO....it's WHAT I'VE ALREADY DONE...& Mitt is PROVEN, forged by the fire of experience...& undoubtably an American. Obama is a "pipe dream" for frustrated Americans who've not yet seen reality. I just hope we can get him out of office before some disaster & martial law, because I don't think he'll walk away quietly.

The 2nd amendment states "the right to keep and bear arms". I'm sorry you don't find that comforting, nor the fact that "arms" means weapons of all description. And the amendment was to protect the citizen from an organized military of any country, including ours! Scares the wits out of liberals on opening day of deer season, as the largest armed body of citizens takes to the woods. I happen to find comfort in that!

The polls are generally showing a virtual tie between Romney and obama. Probably along the lines of the 52% of those who pay taxes, and the 48% of those who reap the benefits!

Okay, one last time to the skeptic, google "$716 billion to obamacare". This will give you in black and white what you chose to believe is a rush limbaugh plot! There are many articles to chose from showing how $716 billion will be taken(stolen) from Medicare to fund the Affordable Care Act(obamacare)! read it and weep.

Truth Be Known said...

Finally someone states the facts about the money that the Republicans claim was stolen from Medicare. It will reduce payments to physicians and lower their fee that Medicare pays.
That almost sounds like a GOP and Tea Party thing, less government spending.
The Democrats and the President have compromised to save Medicare and the Republican distort the facts in desperation so they can regain the power they once had.

DON'T BE FOOLED AGAIN

I found nothing at all fake about the Republican Convention. It was all the truth, the enormous debt, the astronomical growth of Government, 1/3 of Americans on some form of assistance, these are all factors that dictate which direction the US is going, & that's becoming "children of the Gov't". If Obama is elected, wait & see how many hospitals close up shop, & your healthcare decisions will be made by a panel in Wash.D.C., not your Dr. or provider. Unemployment has grown, & would be far worse, if not for Obama using billions to funnel back into Union jobs, which are still scarce, & will br drying up again soon. That's not a sound economic job base. Many say the Rep. are responsible for the wars, but I don't see the Dem.'s ending them. I have no idea if they're for oil/lithium, would rather see business deals made for that, but if it's keeping the terrorists busy over there, instead of here, then by all means, take out the threats. Now that Iranian soldiers are fighting for Syria, & Iran is nuclear, somethings inevitably going to happen. I know 1 thing, Romney has spent his life proving himself, as a missionary, a preacher, orchestrating the best Olympics ever in Salt Lake, building billion dollar businesses, a Governor(in an 87% Dem state), who successfully reformed healthcare w/o raising taxes, just far more than Obama has ever, or will ever, do for America. Obama's putting bandaids over bandaids, but the wound is still gushing & getting worse, especially for our children. Romney has the plan to heal it. He's not owned by the likes of George Soros, or the cronies that pulled Bush's strings. If people actually vote for a Muslim Brotherhood member, then God help us....even more.

To the person who finds comfort in the largest army of armed citizens taking to the woods during deer citizens; it's just not my thing, but I have no problem with it.

So tell me what this army of citizens has done to protect us from the nut cases who "keep and bear arms"? Those are the ones to worry about. Those are the ones who shoot unarmed citizens they don't even know. In my opinion, our nation's founders never intended people who shoot innocent unarmed people to "keep and bear arms"! Is that the price we pay to have this army of armed citizens that should make me feel confortable?

The Japanese after Pearl Harbor could have easily invaded the U.S. on the west coast, they had the manpower and the ability.........but......they were afraid to because they knew every American was armed, and believed there was a gun behind every blade of grass. Every country thinking of invading the U.S. has to be thinking the same thing, because it is true, and we have alot of enemies these days! That comforts me, sir. As for the nut cases, you tell me how to distinguish them from the population and I will take care of them personally! But until then, you cannot punish the masses for the faults of the few!

The BIGGEST problem our Doctors...& businesses have, is paying malpractice Insurance & Workman's Comp Insurance. Both are scam...BIG $$$ makers. 1st of all, the Malprac.Ins.Co.'s use very high priced lawyers, & it's nearly impossible to get a settlement against a doctor, EVEN WHEN THEY WERE TOTALLY AT FAULT. 2nd, the Workers.Comp. is the same way, they have high priced attorney's who WILL find a way to negate all claims. These are hurting our Med.Field & Businesses MORE THAN ANYTHING, & alot of people are getting VERY rich on it. NOW....IF, this new healthcare system covered ALL these issues(unless a doctor is totally at fault & needs license revoked), the business could just pay temp.disability pay until employee is back to work, it would save doctors & bus. billions, thus spawning job growth, high wages, & cheaper med.costs. I CAN'T STAND to see all the Insurance Co.'s, spending 100's of millions to advertise, when, we the consumer, know that we are paying for that. The Insurance Co.'s NEED THROTTLED & REGULATED. There's just way too many "middle men" in every aspect of life today, & the reap the profits, but don't supply the product, nor are they the consumer, just greedy hands in the middle. & the pre-existing clause needs to made extinct, like every other derogatory word. They'd rather let people die than possibly give them life. My point...Insurance Co.'s ARE THE PROBLEM....& I haven't ever heard anyone address it yet.

Below is what Mr Rommeny did to this company. Here is an examination of the Dade deal, which Mr. Romney approved and presided over, shows the unintended human costs and messy financial consequences behind the brand of capitalism that he practiced for 15 years.

At Bain Capital’s direction, Dade quadrupled the money it owed creditors and vendors. It took steps that propelled the business toward bankruptcy. And in waves of layoffs, it cut loose 1,700 workers in the United States, including Brian and Christine Shoemaker, who lost their jobs at a plant in Westwood, Mass. Staggered, Mr. Shoemaker wondered, “How can the bean counters just come in here and say, Hey, it’s over
sold the company.
He has make his money on the mis fortunes of the American worker.

Moor on Mr Rommeny Amid anecdotal evidence on both sides, the full record has largely escaped a close look, because so many transactions are involved. The Wall Street Journal, aiming for a comprehensive assessment, examined 77 businesses Bain invested in while Mr. Romney led the firm from its 1984 start until early 1999, to see how they fared during Bain's involvement and shortly afterward.

Among the findings: 22% either filed for bankruptcy reorganization or closed their doors by the end of the eighth year after Bain first invested, sometimes with substantial job losses. An additional 8% ran into so much trouble that all of the money Bain invested was lost.

Another finding was that Bain produced stellar returns for its investors—yet the bulk of these came from just a small number of its investments. Ten deals produced more than 70% of the dollar gains.

Some of those companies, too, later ran into trouble. Of the 10 businesses on which Bain investors scored their biggest gains, four later landed in bankruptcy court.

Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, consumers will receive more value for their premium dollar because insurance companies will be required to spend 80 to 85 percent of premium dollars on medical care and health care quality improvement, rather than on administrative costs, starting in 2011. If they don’t, the insurance companies will be required to provide a rebate to their customers starting in 2012. The insurance companies have been sending these rebates back to customers. So it has been addressed.

Seems wiser to vote for the person not the party based on their personal record. I don't consider myself a Republican or a Democrat. With both sides making outrageous promises they know they can't deliver, what else can we go on but what they have done in the past.

That being said, we should already know what will happen the next 4 years if Obama is re-elected. It shouldn't be a big surprise what will happen if Romney is elected either.

While I'm on my soapbox, it is easy to find the past voting record of any US Representative or Senator online. Or should we forget their past record and go by what they say today as they desperately try to reinvent themseves?

Backgound checks work if all is done is the person signs a paper.
Once a local daycare worker was attending an English class at Ancilla, and she was pushing drugs right through the class. It made one of her fellow students very sick, it also scared another student who observed it. When she turned up working at a local factory, she said Ancilla was a bad experience, so she must have been eventually caught. The daycare is no longer in operations.
The younger students some from Knox often skipped classes while the older nontradional students came every day. College is the social life of some fresh out of high school, while it is a necessity for the older student wanting to qualify for better jobs.
Maybe all should have to work a few years and save money for college then let the government match it, they would understand what it means to hold a job and earn their own way. Back in the 1960s the high school did not need a parking lot for the student's cars, most rode buses or walked to school unless their parents worked in town and dropped them off.

Lawmakers in Indiana have failed to act on two marijuana law reform measures. Senate Bill 347 and House Bill 1370 have both missed the state deadline to be passed out of their house of origin and are now dead for this legislative session.

SB 347, which aimed to amend state law so that the adult possession of up to three ounces of marijuana is reduced from a potential felony to a noncriminal infraction, received a hearing in front of the Senate Committee on Corrections, Criminal, and Civil Matters, but was never voted upon. HB 1730, which sought to legalize and regulate the physician-supervised use of medical marijuana, was referred to the House Committee on Health, but was never scheduled for a hearing.

Thanks for your support of marijuana law reform in Indiana, NORML will keep you updated on future reform efforts.

MO'GREEN said...

Marijuana is the third most popular recreational drug in America (behind only alcohol and tobacco), and has been used by nearly 100 million Americans. According to government surveys, some 25 million Americans have smoked marijuana in the past year, and more than 14 million do so regularly despite harsh laws against its use. Our public policies should reflect this reality, not deny it.

Marijuana is far less dangerous than alcohol or tobacco. Around 50,000 people die each year from alcohol poisoning. Similarly, more than 400,000 deaths each year are attributed to tobacco smoking. By comparison, marijuana is nontoxic and cannot cause death by overdose. According to the prestigious European medical journal, The Lancet, "The smoking of cannabis, even long-term, is not harmful to health. ... It would be reasonable to judge cannabis as less of a threat ... than alcohol or tobacco."

Get the facts. See our Library

MO'GREEN said...

NORML supports the eventual development of a legally controlled market for marijuana, where consumers could buy marijuana for personal use from a safe legal source. This policy, generally known as legalization, exists on various levels in a handful of European countries like The Netherlands and Switzerland, both of which enjoy lower rates of adolescent marijuana use than the U.S. Such a system would reduce many of the problems presently associated with the prohibition of marijuana, including the crime, corruption and violence associated with a "black market."

MO'GREEN said...

Hemp is a distinct variety of the plant species cannabis sativa L. that contains minimal (less than 1%) amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. It is a tall, slender, fibrous plant similar to flax or kenaf. Various parts of the plant can be utilized in the making of textiles, paper, paints, clothing, plastics, cosmetics, foodstuffs, insulation, animal feed and other products.

MO'GREEN said...

As President Jimmy Carter told Congress in 1977:

"Penalties against a drug should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against possession of marijuana in private for personal use. The National Commission on Marijuana and Abuse concluded years ago that marijuana use should be decriminalized, and I believe it is time to implement those basic recommendations

MO'GREEN said...

Marijuana legalization offers an important advantage over decriminalization in that it allows for legal distribution and taxation of cannabis. In the absence of taxation, the free market price of legal marijuana would be extremely low, on the order of five to ten cents per joint. In terms of intoxicating potential, a joint is equivalent to at least $1 or $2 worth of alcohol, the price at which cannabis is currently sold in the Netherlands. The easiest way to hold the price at this level under legalization would be by an excise tax on commercial sales. An examination of the external costs imposed by cannabis users on the rest of society suggests that a "harmfulness tax" of $.50 - $1 per joint is appropriate. It can be estimated that excise taxes in this range would raise between $2.2 and $6.4 billion per year. Altogether, legalization would save the taxpayers around $8 - $16 billion, not counting the economic benefits of hemp agriculture and other spinoff industries.

Any program to satisfy those few only allows a foot in the door, and opens up the beginning of corruption at gets to be far ranging in nothing flat. Alcohol is a perfect example. Look at the abuse by the underage despite controls. Marijuana would be simularly abused. The bottom line remains to be that the substance is harmful, would burden the taxpayer with reform, and add to the abuse of medical facilities, and is illegal(righfully so).

Driven by the Drug War, the U.S. prison population is six to ten times as high as most Western European nations. The United States is a close second only to Russia in its rate of incarceration per 100,000 people. In 2006, more than 829,000 people were arrested in this country for marijuana-related offenses alone

MO"GREEN said...

Marijuana prohibition causes far more problems than it solves, and results in the needless arrest of hundreds of thousands of otherwise law abiding citizens each year.

MO'GREEN said...

Our country's war on drugs places great emphasis on arresting people for smoking marijuana. In the last decade, 6.5 million Americans have been arrested on marijuana charges, a greater number than the entire populations of Alaska, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming combined. In 2010, state and local law enforcement arrested 853,838 people for marijuana violations. Annual marijuana arrests have nearly tripled since the early 1990s, and is the highest number ever recorded by the FBI.

As has been the case throughout the 1990s, the overwhelming majority of those charged with marijuana violations in 2010 -- 758,593 Americans (88 %) -- were for simple possession. The remaining 99,815 individuals were for "sale/manufacture", an FBI category which includes marijuana grown for personal use or purely medical purposes. These new FBI statistics indicate that one marijuana smoker is arrested every 37 seconds in America. Taken together, the total number of marijuana arrests for 2010 far exceeded the combined number of arrests for violent crimes, including murder, manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

Anonymous said...

Enough with the marijuana already, it's illegal, period. And if you get arrested for possessing it, too bad, you went into it with your eyes open. You fail to mention the vast numbers of citizens who DIDN'T get arrest for drugs, or don't they count. Yep, as timothy leary used to say to the irresponsibles, "tune in, turn on, drop out". Drugs of any type just create another class we end up having to pay for!

I discovered recently that the area
right next to my house has been bought and turned into hunting area.

We are very upset about this I should not be afraid to be at my house. I can't believe that my neighbors are happy about this also. I am having a really hard time with this since there already is hunting area not too far away but not right next to MY HOUSE

Please help what can I do?
